what's the meaning of Illorin?

That locally, conquered and depraved place is what you want to use as a yardstick to measure cost of food in Nigeria, Lagos, Port Harcourt, Abuja, Bayelsa.

Are you ok?
It is you that is not ok at all, so 1kg is $6 in Lagos right?

How do you people even think with your brain sef?
This question ❓ baffles me like kilode!

Nigerian kilo of chicken still remains one of the most expensive in the world due to Bulaba's wuru-wuru economic policies and you are here yapping apata.
Na him stop you from raising chicken?

Why Do you have to blame the govt for your own laziness and lack of business initiative.

While you are here comparing the price of chicken in Nigeria to other countries, people smarter than you are seeing a business opportunity and are taking advantage.

If you reason this way, then the future of Nigeria is not promising with voters like you. Why should a chicken be almost the same price in Nigeria like the US?

Gradually, a lot of commodities Nigerians in diaspora like to source from Nigeria due to cost now is now comparable to the price it can be obtained abroad. Rather than Nigerians to be alarmed on the level of inflation they are experiencing, you are picking political sides
What exactly is your point,do you want to compare how much chicken is produced in the US as against over here, how much chicken is consumed in the US as against here.......for us to have it cheaper over here despite all the subsidies the US govt pays it's farmers is a major achievement worthy of applause......the pun was intended at the op who was trying to shame Nigeria not knowing he is the real clown.
Re: Cost Of 1kg Chicken In Nigeria Vs Other Countries by Evicsholar(f): 3:32am On Jan 10
What stops your government from providing subsidy on food? Food should not be luxury, it's a basic human need! Which animal protein can the average poor man afford?
Like I mentioned earlier, it's not only about chicken. The current costs of items is almost comparable with abroad prices so why the need to buy from Nigeria and that's part of what has affected chicken prices. Rather than trying to justify those prices, you deserve better from your government, whether it is Bihari or Tinubu or Obi in power. Other countries that don't have the UuS population and production scale still have food affordable or the common man

Nigeria has never had any comparative advantage in chicken production, we have never prided ourselves as major poultry producer......Nigerians still get their protein sources anyhow they deem fit........food is far cheaper here than it is over there......you need to lampoon the alarmist op who would rather make us believe chicken is most expensive in Nigeria when in fact it isn't......thats misinformation and deliberately done to achieve an objective.

Cost of living is way higher in Lagos compared to Ilorin, it's a simple logic that chicken will be cheaper in Ilorin.

Frozen chicken and turkey were very cheap many years ago. The price began to rise after Obasanjo imposed ban on importation of poultry products. If the ban is lifted today, the price will surely drop; just as it happened with rice.
Those countries government subsidized foods products to make it cheap while your own government remove subsidy to increase their looting capacity.

..and farmers are still shouting about importation of corn, major constituent of chicken feeds.

Government should open the boarder for Importation of feeds, if cost of feeds locally is too expensive.so that the cost of chicken can come down.
It's too expensive
Are you aware of the heavy import duties charged in Nigeria?

The US doesn't subsidize electricity o wink

I don't even get why food remains so expensive in a nation where the minimum wage is practically among the lowest on Earth...!

Seems average Nigerians are destined to suffer for life.
You support for the government to devalue your naira by increasing the minimum in naira, shout tax rich and keep blind eyes to the excessive ₦119 trillion in circulation, then expect things to be cheap?
Re: Cost Of 1kg Chicken In Nigeria Vs Other Countries by Evicsholar(f): 11:38am On Jan 10
I put it to you that food is expensive in Nigeria. Just take it. If the price of food abroad is the same as the currency equivalent in Naira, then there's serious problem and you are not even realizing it.
Governments of countries that care about its citizen don't leave getting food to 'however the deem fit' but actively make food affordable for the common man such that even if you earn the minimum wage, you can eat comfortably and not starve. That's why you hardly find undernutrition even among poor people there.

The right thing to do is to encourage farmers to reduce cost of production, not to open borders for cheap chicken and turkey to come in. That is jobs you are outsourcing because you want to eat cheap chicken. Its not a wise thing to trade off.

Below is a list of how much 1kg fresh whole chicken cost in other countries vs the cost in Nigeria.

Source

Insight: Despite having the lowest minimum wage among these nations, Nigeria has the highest cost of chicken—more than double the price in Thailand and significantly higher than in the USA.

Do you still think it's cheaper to live in Nigeria?

Why can't we make comparison? The original post stated this was for fresh whole chicken.
You cannot get whole chicken of 1kg.
So which comparison again?
