A former governor of Plateau State, Amb. Fidelis Tapgun, has congratulated Governor Caleb Mutfwang for defecting from the People's Democratic Party (PDP) to the All-Progressives Congress (APC).

Tapgun who is also a member of the PDP board of Trustee (BOT), said the congratulation becomes necessary because the Governor Mutfwang has freed himself from slavery.

The BOT member who spoke to our correspondent exclusively on Saturday, said Mutfwang leaving the PDP means that he has come to terms with the truth that the party cannot win election with the current leadership tussle confronting it.

"There are those who think they own PDP and have continued to deceive the Governor that all is well. This self-delusion that has lingered for two long, brought PDP to where it is today", Tapgun said.

Tapgun lauded Mutfwang for the bold step saying that the move means that he has demonstrated that he is a man of himself.

"This defection means that Mutfwang cannot be controlled by anybody. They know that the party with the current leadership crisis is heading nowhere, yet they want to keep him, for what?

Speaking like a prophet, Tapgun said he had before now warned the PDP to put its house together to avoid the unfortunate situation that has befalling it.

"But those who think they own PDP decide to do things their own way. They don't listen to anybody and have dragged Mutfwang into the mood except now that God has delivered him. If not, he would have hit the rock", Tapgun said.

He said with the way PDP has degenerated, there is no way it can organise itself to win the 2027 election, hence the defection of not only Mutfwang but other governors across board.

Calling for the support of President Bola Tinubu, Tapgun said the country has no option than to support the President to complete his eight years tenure, because by his rating, Tinubu is doing well.

He berated some APC members who kicked against the decision of Governor Mutfwang joining the party, saying that Mutfwang has been controlling the APC even before he joined.

"With the 22 members of the APC in the House of Assembly including Senators as well as APC forming the government at the centre, Mutfwang remained in charge of the State, and the APC could do nothing. But when he made the move to defect, they started resisting him.

"Is that not self-delusion?" Tapgun asked.

The good people of Plateau state are fully with their governor and president. It will be APC from top to bottom in the state.

Lol. If they were, there will be no need for too much explanations. This was Jonah Jang on Muftwang's defection yesterday. Even the APC faithfuls in the state are aggrieved. It is not yet Uhuru even for Muftwang on the Plateau, let alone Tinubu.

BCM said the president begged him to join the party and the governor did as asked by the president. But can the governor beg the people to vote tinubu? The answer is NO!! BCM and jang planned it for the benefit of the governor because tinubu can't be sold in 2027 so let the scam continue.

How about Mutfwang's appointees, did they decamp too? I'm particularly interested in his current DG on research and documentation.

The whole thing is Confusing, the people voted PDP and did not vote APC, now the Governor has moved to APC. People will be discouraged from voting in the future knowing their Governor will still decamp to the party they don't like. Una wey dey waste una time go vote they try O.

No one in Nigeria votes for parties. They either vote for religion, tribe, or the one with the biggest vote-buying bag. That's why decamping doesn't really bother the voting public.

But peolle are angry that Fubara has joined APC and they don't like APC.

Southeast people are unhappy that 3 out out the 5 Governors ate APC. Imo was made in supreme court by Buhari while enugu decamped. Core ibo people will not just go and vote APC with their clear eye.

Imo governor was re-elected under APC. Ebonyi governor won under APC. Orji Kalu has won his senatorial election twice as APC candidate. And please, apart from Wike, nobody is angry that Fubara joined APC. In fact, the people of Rivers State are happy about it.

You'll find that most of those bellyaching about parties are actually party members themselves.

The average voter is waiting to be told by his Imam or pastor who to vote for, or waiting for who'd pay the most for their votes.
