LG Electronics Nigeria has issued an urgent warning to the public about counterfeit televisions currently circulating in the market, following disturbing online videos showing unauthorized individuals packaging non-LG TVs in fake LG cartons and labels.

These counterfeit products are not manufactured or distributed by LG Electronics Nigeria or any of our approved partners. They present serious risks to consumers, including substandard performance, electrical hazards, and the complete absence of an LG warranty or support.

“We are deeply concerned by the spread of these counterfeit TVs and the potential harm to Nigerian families. At LG, consumer safety and product quality are our top priorities.

We remain dedicated to providing our customers with genuine products and ensuring their peace of mind,” said Moses Osime, Public Relations Manager, LG Electronics Nigeria.

In a statement issued by the electronic company, it highlighted how customers can protec themselves from exploitation.

Customers are advised to only buy LG TVs from authorized LG dealers and retail outlets;

Check for original LG factory seals, correct model details, serial numbers, and official warranty cards;

If a price seems too good to be true, it probably is;

Register and verify their LG product at https://www.lg.com/africa/support/product-validation or contact our customer service team.

“LG Electronics Nigeria appreciates the vigilance and trust of its customers.

“We committed to keeping the public informed, supporting Nigerian families, and upholding the highest standards of quality, safety, and trust. We encourage the public to always stay alert and make informed decisions when purchasing electronics,” the statement read.

Very soon, these same counterfeiters, caught with their trousers around their ankles in Alaba Market, will solemnly blame the government for the ripple effects of their own criminal brilliance.

One can already predict the next scene, original equipment manufacturers quietly activating sophisticated countermeasures to protect unsuspecting consumers from these backyard industrialists.

This, of course, is not a new talent. It is the same magic trick they perform with fake drugs, adulterating medicines and criminally extending shelf lives, transforming healing products into health hazards for Nigerians.

We have now reached the absurd stage where reputable hospitals must specify which pharmacy patients should patronise if they want actual drugs, not experimental poisons.

These people, oh gosh!

No worry yourself, LG is a big brand with financial power, they will deal with them.

These same callous people rendered many movie producers, movie and music artistes poor and homeless by pirating their hard work. Some of them died without recovering from it. After months of hard work, you go around all TV stations for media tour to market and promote your movie or album. While you're at it, you would see the pirated CDs hanging on the shelves everywhere by the roadside and these wicked people already selling the pirated copies and making money while you you're left to struggle to payback the loans you borrowed for the production.

It was the arrival of digital platforms like YouTube, Netflix & co that rescued the career of Nigerian artistes from being wrecked by these people.

And these people are the biggest critics of Government, they keep shouting and pretending they love Nigeria more than others, saying a new Nigeria is POOsible. Meanwhile they are more evil than the devil himself.

Imagine these ones in power, they will use federal power to protect their Mafia businesses. And if a whistleblower raises an alarm, they will use DSS to lock him/her in underground cell and finish him there. Nigeria indeed dodged a bullet.

Why are the rich "oppressing" the poor? grin

If not for the "fake products from China" many people would never be able to afford a flat screen Tv - How many families in Nigerian are buoyant enough to cough out 500 to 800 euros for a quality LG TV?

How many have the resources to even buy original quality phones or other gadgets?

I am not saying that "fake product" should be allowed into the country but as long as there is huge disparity in terms of income and as long as the rich continue "taunting" the poor with their riches the poor will always look for alternative product so as not to feel left out.

In most society, where the income gap is not that wide and where people earn living wage, the chances of opting for fake goods is very low. In fact, most people won't waste their money on such given that they can afford real and quality products and that the system protect them as customers in terms of failure of the product.

Anyways, as long as poverty is supreme in Nigeria and as long as the poor wants to live like the rich, opportunist will exploit the situation and will continue selling fake and dangerous products.

See them... Others are corrupt but na only dem no dey corrupt. See the stanky mindset of people who are not corrupt.

To them, If not for fake drugs, many people will not be able to cure their sicknesses. To them, if not for fake drinks, many people will not be able to afford drinks. While they have killed thousands of people more than Bokoharam in the name of quick money syndrome.

They're quick to compare their criminality to China, forgetting that China manufacture their products based on specifications. What you asked for is what they manufacture for you. Most of these products meets the national standards set up by the standardization agency in China but might not necessarily meet up with Nigeria's standardization which makes it substandard and cheaper. But you people are manufacturing POISONS that meets No standard specifications. None!

I submit to you that your thought process on this matter is seriously flawed!!!

You sound educated but your opinion on this is rather ill-informed sir!

1. The consequences of these fake products - from household electronics, to pharmaceuticals and foods&drinks - far outweigh whatever advantage of economic bridging that you are positing

2. Assuming, without conceding, that you must make these cheaper alternatives for the low-income class, why not own it with your full chest and give it your own name and brand? Why impersonate other brands? We both know the answer to that 🤷‍♂️

There’s no defence for this for this kind of criminality, sire!

They can use their own name instead of using another brand name.

Don't we have agencies of government that can fish out these rogues?
LG should also device a means whereby every product that is sold anywhere in Nigeria comes with a verification code that can be authenticated through an SMS like some pharmaceutical drugs!

Are they acting as though they aren’t aware?

So they had to depend on social media before issuing a notice?
They better go after the culprits and work with the Customs too!

LG quality in Nigeria is substandard!
They should work on this as well!

Re: LG Electronics Nigeria Issues Consumer Alert On Counterfeit TVs by franchasofficia:
If you want original LG products, go to approved LG store or outlet.

If the price is too good to be real, then you should worry.

You cannot buy any original LG Smart TV of 55inches for less than $500 to $600, tell me how many Nigerians that can afford such yet they will be screaming "I want LG, I want LG!" even when they cannot afford it, that is what's encouraging people to fake the brand.

If Nigerians learn to be realistic with life and understand that you cannot buy certain brands if you are not rich, these things will end naturally.

You know you cannot afford original brand new iPhone 17 pro max yet you want to own it, tell me why won't they sell fake one to you?

Cut your clothe according to your material and stop being greedy with life.
