Nigeria has happened to her. If only we had knew, she should have flown abroad, infact all people asked was how could you allow her have surgery in Nigeria? That these days, the most they treat locally is maleria, infact for toothache you should fly abroad! Funny thing is that the money we spent here in naija would have treated her in UK, Turkey etc.
Someone said all the good doctors worth anything have moved abroad for greener pastures, it is the leftovers available, another said an ex governor of delta state built one of the best hospitals in the country, but for headache the man flies abroad! He said look at baba seyi, Akpabio small thing they have gone to France, even wike after drinking 40year old whiskey and falls, will take off to London to flush his belle..
Imagine having access to the best available healthcare in the country, having money to spend not being and issue, yet you can still die like chicken in Nigeria, what then will you say about those that have no resources?
Hmm, to loose a child, more so in such circumstances will be a desaster for chiamanda, I know what my mama has gone through till today, I can can only play almighty God consoles her and her family, may he grant them the fortitude to bear the loss.

(Nb) I actually briefed lawyers to go after that facility in Victoria island, but my siblings said we should leave, it cannot bring her back, and the years of litigation will keep bringing back bad memories.

I don't see how getting 55/100 in anatomy should be allowed as pass mark for someone that must know every single aspect of the human body flawlessly or something could go terrible wrong

That's how one doctor suture the rectal passage and the vagina plus the urethra and everything thats close to that area together after fibroid removal......it was a very messy post surgery issue...and they still had the wicked guts to tell the poor woman to pay for corrective surgery.

It's painful to lose a loved one, take heart. I know how angry she is, but know that some things are unexplainable.

It may seem like neglect, but somethings are unexplainable. Don't dwell on it so much.

That Victoria Island-based private hospital you talked about should have been sued outright (contrary to family members' advice) if you had any concrete evidence of negligence by one or more of there staff. The Nigerian Medical Council would have struck their names out of their official membership register. Some medical practitioners have in the past talked and written about "oxygen cylinders" getting finished suddenly WITHOUT a backup and this has led to the lose of lives of people on admission in especially some Nigerian public hospitals.

NOW this current case of too much Propofol anaesthesia being given to a toddler by a supposed professional. What happened to work ethics? This calls to for regular training and retraining for all medical teams to mitigate these sorts of insidious incidents. I want to see that hospital get charged for the death of that boy.

That freestuff guy can now see clearly what happened. Hopefully he can redeem himself after that his comment a couple of days ago over the matter.

We have negligent medical personnel all over the world. However our case in our country needs special attention. Just imagine trusting a baby in the precarious situation, in a very costly private clinic, then negligence on the part of the personnel cost the child’s life.

For some couples, it is easy to have children naturally. When they lose their children, the easily replace despite their pain. For those who pass through any form of assisted conception, the loss of the baby is a far worse pain. This couple passes through a very heavy pain, seeing their struggles end just like that.

May they be comforted.

May God deliver us from Nigerian hospitals and Nigerian health care professionals. Nigerian hospitals are just mortuaries. Quack health care professionals everywhere. I don't want to talk about my own personal experience with them quite recently. The other day, it was a man that lost his wife who had successfully delivered a baby to the careless hands of quack health care professionals in one hospital in Lekki. The worst is that they keep going on strike every now and then, yet they are all quacks. A state of emergency should be declared over health care practice in Nigerian hospitals, too much quacks. My heartfelt condolences to Chimamamda over this painful loss. Take heart dear Sis and may God comfort you.

Anaesthetics can be lethal even if someone is closely monitored and the rightful things are done ✔️.
That's why you sign consent for Anaesthetics to be administered because of the risks involved.

It's a very sad situation to be in, losing one's child.

From everything she's saying, it seems there's someone working in the hospital feeding them with inside information which may or may not be correct.

The child's death could be due to negligence on the part of the hospital, he could also still have died if it was in the US. Only an autopsy can save that anaesthesiologist now.
