samfrancis1:I really don't think you read my post to understand it, rather you are fixated on what is in your head. Let me help you out it seems comprehension is a bit of a problem for you . 1. I said because of inferior products which are less costly, poor masses can now have access to it. 2. As long as there is huge income gap, sellers will keep exploiting the situation to important fake products and there will always be market for it - by the poor 3. That in society where people earn living wage and consumer rights are enforced by the government, the masses are less likely to patronize fake products - hence, the dearth of fake goods in such society. Now, can you tell me what is it in my original post that warrant you insulting your dad thinking that you are insulting me? |

YModulosGodSon:I never said the advantage outweighed the disadvantage, please do show me in my post where I said so? You are asking people commiting crimes why they are impersonating genuine products? Isn't that the definition of fake? ![]() Could also explain to me how giving an explanation for the reason things happen translated into defending it? If you had taken your time to read through and gave it a second thought, you would have understood the following: that I stated why fake products are rampant in our society and why it will take time to eradicate - by stating how societal pressure (to belong) and income disparities are being exploited by seller. I also pointed out why it is very minimal almost non-existent in society with very narrow income gap and strong government controls. NB: I think you should understand that explaining the mechanism underlining an event is not the same as supporting it. For you to be able to solve any societal problem, you need to understand how such problem or behavior came into being and the mechanism that gives it life. If you don't understand this you will only be treating the symptoms instead of the problem itself. |

dettolgel:Your analysis didn't hold water When Milo was beyond the reach of the poor, cowbellchoco et al were the go to for the poor with introduction of sachet beverage....this later forced Milo to introduce sachet as well Cowbell came n established their name, they didn"t impersonate Milo |

femi4:I guess you know that the mechanism that drives the rise of fake products for one commodity might not be the same exact mechanism for other commodities and a times there is overlap? As far as I understand Nigeria, the influx of fake products are being driven by mostly lack of proper government control and protection of consumer's right, and poverty. Oga do you know there was a lot of those fake products in Nigeria market. Most of the beverages you buy in Nigeria can't pass food safety regulations in Europe. Dey there they whine yourself ![]() |

Laugh wan burst my belle. They know the TV are in circulation what's the pretense all about. The fake TV are always cheaper than than the original. Really I fell a victim of this 2yrs ago. I bought an 55"LG SMART TV for 350k Mean while the original one is sold for 800k there about as at then o. But the alaba people are very cunny, they will deceive you and tame you with dealership stories to convince you that you are buying and original LG. Some how you will fall for it. I was a victim Sha and he really painted me Cos the guy gave me his word only to find out I bought unbranded tv published in the name of LG. I eventual sold it and got an original Hisense for 700k. |

dettolgel:Same europe that banned iru n dry fish. All their food safety regulations are politically motivated to encourage their citizens to patronize home products. The issue at hand is impersonation |

Putindbutt:You are not smart at all. even that LG TV in the video circulating online was manafactured in China but they can't label it LG in China so as not to be directed. China is the one doing most of the piracy for African countries. |
| Re: LG Electronics Nigeria Issues Consumer Alert On Counterfeit TVs by dettolgel: 12:47am On Jan 11 |
femi4:Whether it is driven by purely scientific reasons or protectionism the fact is that they had better government control than we do. Actually, impersonation in this situation bothers on safety as well. I am sure LG products meet some safety standards. We are not sure that whatever they are trying to pass off as LG meet the required standards, as long as that is not ascertained safety is still of paramount concern here. |
| Re: LG Electronics Nigeria Issues Consumer Alert On Counterfeit TVs by bjcole(m): 12:56am On Jan 11 |
dettolgel:You are absolutely right, almost all what we consume here as beverages and drinks would be fake products in the UK and US. This Fake LG TV and Hisense TV are everywhere in our market. Infact most of the LG TV you see in those small small Electronic shops are Fake. |

Putindbutt:Spot on! Just imagine them in power. Reason why we voted based on our high moral standards in 2023 and selected the most upright candidate with no case of corruption, no stain on his records, impeccable academic records and a track record for excellence! We certainly dodged a bullet...but did we end up in front of an RPG? Only time will tell |

Richtaiwo:speaking big English as usual an pointing accusing fingers. Your principal and his government is no better than the criminals making counterfeit products owing to increasing economic hardship. How did we get here? Who should be held responsible? Would it be different in a more business-friendly climate?

dettolgel:Don't support illegality. Why don't they make these same tvs and sell as a completely different name without using the brand name of established company. Using Lgs Samsung or other big brands logo is criminal and deceptive to the buyer. |

Thiefobi1:It is very true. I attempted buying a 50" smart tv from these igbo shops, only to discover that what they are packaging as 50" is 43", and what they are packaging as 43" is 39"...it was so unsettling, I declined buying from them. This is so bad |

dettolgel:I guess you still don’t understand what you’re saying.. the fact that you mentioned in y he first paragraph that if not for the fact that china is producing fake product .. even got the fact that I wouldn’t tag what china produce as fake cause they have their different names and brand.: and even the counterfeit are made known and the value of the counterfeit is being paid for not over priced like it’s done here.: when next you’re discussing issues let’s know where you stand not ranting .. and I know you also have a dad… peace. |

samfrancis1:You know I have dad but you started your first response with an insult, you could have made your point then without insult. Now back to your point. I think you already have a fixed mindset and I shall try to reason you out of it. Yes if not for the influx of those substandard cheap goods most Nigerians giving their income level won't be able to afford it. That doesn't mean I support it, if you go down my post you would see where I mentioned that due to poor government control, the need to feel among, and wide income gap, are being exploited by the producer and seller of fake goods. I am sure you understand the role of "exploitation" in my statement. Does that in anyway indicate that I support the sale of fake products? I guess you didn't also read far to see where I said I am not supporting the importation of fake products? Secondly, once you knowingly put the wrong label on any product. In an effort to deceive the buyer into thinking they are buying the goods the label owner is known for, the product becomes the fake of what you are trying to pass it off, irrespective of the quality. So China can call it anything they want or price it at any amount that doesn't matter, if you "like carry Iphone cover and logo put ontop techno na still fake iphone. If you like carry techno logo and cover put ontop iPhone and pass it off as techno na still fake techno e be" ![]() There are minimum international standards for products with respect to users safety, environmental impact and it is the moral responsibility of every nation to uphold that. Anyways that is an entirely different conversation. Happy Sunday. |

| Re: LG Electronics Nigeria Issues Consumer Alert On Counterfeit TVs by GravityDefier: 8:54am On Jan 11 |
dettolgel:This reasoning is dirty. You shouldn't have any iota of support for substandard and fake products. |
