The AFCON really has to do better. This was CLEARLY a goal. The coaching staff needs someone that would watch the game from the Camera's POV, Ignoring moments like this could cost is in the next round. Watching a game from the sidelines and from the camera's POV are two different things. We need someone to play close attention to the calls and match game moments (reviews, red cards etc) as they are captured by the camera

This video from FIFA explains the goal line technology. In this video, the goal was given, meaning our goal yesterday should HAVE been given. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XP5HyvjDUMU |

You cannot judge it from this angle. Look at the 2 posts, they are not aligned on a straight line. If the 2 posts are 180 degrees, you won't see the misalignment of the first top post in relation to the second post. They will appear as a single object. VAR considered all the angles and the ball didn't fully cross the line |

Because it was cancelled |

The rule is, the entire ball must cross the goal line. So it was not a goal. |

GanagiBitrus:Abeg zoom into that picture and look at the ball under the footballers leg. |

Mrchippychappy:The whole ball didn't cross the line, so it's not a goal. The more pressing question should be why were Algeria not giving a penalty when it was clear the ball hit our defender's hand inside the 18 yard box? |

The entire ball must cross. Just as we have in Tennis too |

That was not a goal . Nigeria was lucky to not conceed through penalty . If the same handball was against Morocco the ref will award . We should not expect fair officiating on Wednesday |

avidkeke:Sure we are, they couldn't even manage a shot on target. However, things should be done the right way. |

The whole of the ball must go over the whole of the line. No goal. |

| Re: Why Was Our First Goal Against Algeria Cancelled? by saddler: 6:41am On Jan 12 |
workchopNG:The ball deflected off the defender's knee before touching his hand. Hence it was no handball. Fifa has a rule on this |
| Re: Why Was Our First Goal Against Algeria Cancelled? by larryUG(m): 4:49pm On Jan 12 |
Spainever:Nigeria was not lucky. VAR did not give the Penalty because the ball struck the thigh first before striking the hand. The rule states that if the ball touches any part of the body first before striking the arm, then penalty is not to be awarded |
