I haven’t been to the US before although I have a valid US visa at the moment, but yes I have UK travel history. I’m a first time applicant for Canada Visa. I just wanted to share the timeline it took from start to finish
For those who have visited Canada recently or have a valid US visa, their applications are processed under the CAN PLUS Program. Their applications are processed in a timely manner, making them enjoy faster processing time.

The Canada CAN+ program is a fast-track system for Temporary Resident Visas, offering expedited processing for eligible applicants who have recently visited Canada (within 10 years) or hold a valid U.S. non-immigrant visa, demonstrating strong travel history or ties to North America.

Go via Student route or express entry to permanent resident but if ur age high then learn french becos relocating on visit visa, pretending to enter on bogus conference or tourism and later claim aduro don cast!!!
Once Bill C12 fully comes into effect, the whole idea of entering Canada on a visitor visa, fake conference, or “tourism” and later claiming asylum will be reduce so much.

Bill C12 is designed to stop late asylum claims, especially from:
Visitor visa holders, Students who overstay and People advised by Facebook/Telegram agents to “enter first, claim later”

This law changes the system completely. Before, asylum cases were handled by a judge at the IRB. Now, in many cases, an immigration officer not a judge will decide your case.

For years, people have been using lawyers to delay their cases appeal after appeal just to remain in Canada even after rejection.
Bill C 12 is meant to end that loophole. even Canadian Immigrations lawyers that use this method to eat are crying out because the game will soon be up. https://ccla.org/privacy/ccla-renews-calls-for-government-to-drop-its-strong-borders-package/

If you’re found ineligible under the new rules which the government are the once that set the rule depending on how things are no more judges

You won’t get an IRB hearing and You will be pushed to PRRA (Pre-Removal Risk Assessment) instead

If you understand PRRA, then you already know that one is very risky as No more “business as usual.”

Your Facebook agent selling you a conference visa package will not tell you this or may not even understand it To them, you are just money.

Bill C 12 is a real game changer it has already passed 3rd reading. https://www.parl.ca/documentviewer/en/45-1/bill/C-12/third-reading?

It introduces new eligibility bars for refugee hearings and the government sets those rules.

And remember even the current Liberal government has said clearly that they want to reduce the number of people with pending or expired status in Canada.

any one thinking of using this method in 2026 Think twice, Do proper research and don’t gamble your future.

I have updated the Adobe and only doing it a laptop. just confused totally. can I DM?
Sheron50:
The issue is not the certificate warning; the form usually fails to upload because it was not opened and validated in Adobe Acrobat Reader DC (desktop), the barcode page did not generate, the file was saved or renamed incorrectly, uploaded to the wrong slot, the solution is to re-download the form, open it only in Adobe Reader DC, validate until the barcode appears, save (not “Save As”), and upload immediately to the correct document slot

Hello Everyone, please I need your input on this. My brother is a permanent resident of Canada and wants to invite my mum for a temporary visit.
Mum is a pensioner but has approximately 4m in her account. My brother’s bank balance isn’t much too its about 2, 800 cad tho he intends to submit his paystub together with the application.

Now this is my question… on the invitation letter is it ok to state he is sponsoring my mum’s trip and all expenses incurred during the visit or the letter should state my mum would take care of her flight ticket from her own funds while my brother covers the rest?

I am asking this question because of the level of funds involved as we are not sure if paystub alone will suffice for my brother to act as a sponsor or the bank balance must be high too.

I will greatly appreciate your responses! Thank you

Sponsorship means you are Financial obligations for the person you are sponsoring

which means if your brother is sponsoring he needs way more than 2, 800 cad

Paystubs are helpful, but IRCC does not rely on paystubs alone bank balance still matters . Overstating sponsorship when funds don’t support it can hurt the application badly as it shows he can not afford it with his balance ..

In this situation, it’s better NOT to state that your brother is fully sponsoring your mum’s trip. With a bank balance of about CAD 2,800, even if he submits paystubs, claiming full sponsorship can raise questions for IRCC...

someone your mum or better still your brother needs to increase their balance....

Hello everyone,

Please Help

I want to apply for a visit visa for my 2 year old, please what’s the process when both parents already have existing visit visas. Has anyone done this? Do we apply under our account, or we have to create a new account entirely? Would we need to submit bank statements for this? are there any new information we need to guide us? I would appreciate every assistance I can get, thank you

Is the Sterling Bank advertised correct?

I tried to pay online for the passport courier service, but no card (Nigerian and foreign) worked.

Has anyone used VFS Abuja's courier service within the last year? What were the steps if you're based in Port?
Re: Canada Visit/tourist Visa Discussion. by cooooooks(m): 7:05pm On Jan 10
If the parents already have a TRV, and the child is travelling with one or both of them, it is a straightforward submission.

Submit a visa application for your child.

Please how did know if any action is taking on your application, like you said eligibility is completed on tracker, did you receive message or you track it on IRCC Portal?
I also submitted application on 20th December, no biometrics yet, nothing have changed, is just as if visa officer has not taking a single action on my application.

You should have gotten biometrics now. I used a tracker to check mine. I believe the link has been posted here before or better still type it on Google. If you can’t find it then let me know

I think I may have complicated the matter by choosing the option that I would not give biometrics because my existing biometrics are valid until September 2026. Unfortunately, my visa application was denied then around 2016 and biometrics valid for 10years

My biometrics are still valid until September 2026, but I have recently obtained a new passport with a 10-year validity and I attached a new passport to the document when I am submitting the neccessary document. I am not sure whether the visa office considers the passport validity period or the biometrics validity date when issuing a visa.

If they rely on the biometrics validity, I may only be granted a visa of about five or six months if my application is approved.

Can I raise a webform to draw their attention to the fact that I am now willing to give new biometrics, even though I initially selected the option not to? I hope this will not be seen as a red flag, or should I just remain calm and wait for now? Please, I need your advice.

Also, please, if you are offering advice, do not come into someone’s DM saying otherwise or requesting money without permission, and I have never drop my contact details here, unless get in touch with me through a registered email on the Nairaland forum.

Yesterday, Sunday 12th January, someone on this platform who is well known responded when I asked a simple question about how to track the progress of my application on the IRCC portal that I submitted my visa application on 20th December. Within seconds of posting my message, the person contacted me on WhatsApp, took screenshots of my messages, and claimed he could track my application for a fee.

I was surprised because I have never shared my WhatsApp number on this platform. Please let us all be mindful and cautious. There are many scammers here pretending to offer help while seeking personal information to scam people. I blocked the person immediately.

Based on the information you provided in your application, the visa officer is aware that you don’t want to complete another biometric, so no further action is required from your end.

In your case, if your visa is approved, it will be granted up to the expiration of your biometric.

For visa applicants who want to pay for biometrics after their applications have been submitted, see the link below.

The guy behaviour is shameful. Asking colleagues to pay a fee simply to send a tracker link is completely unacceptable.

What concerns me even more is how he obtained my personal WhatsApp contact. I am surprised, because even I do not know how to search for my own number or anyone else’s on the Nairaland forum.

This raises serious questions about his conduct and respect for people’s privacy.

Please, can someone on this platform guide me on how to remove my private phone number from my Nairaland profile?

This is the third time scammers have sent me direct messages. A similar thing happened to me on the UK Nairaland platform, where a Tanzanian guy claimed he worked at the UK HomeOffice and demanded an exorbitant money to secure a work visa for me, even though I had never spoken to him before.

When I asked how he got my WhatsApp number, he said he picked it from my Nairaland profile.

Admin, please help me. I have tried several times to edit my profile, but I don’t have access to remove the number.
