DeepSight:What philosophy pls? A philosophy that tempts workers to treat one customer better or worse or even resent someone just because they did not do extra after paying for their food. What if they did not have? What if they had other commitment. What if everyone in every industry begin to ask for a tip. No matter how you shroud it, tipping is charity and one should never be forced or embarrassed or blackmailed emotionally to give it. |

Tipping is not compulsory and no one shouldn't get angry for that but then ridiculing someone's service is not acceptable. |

LordIsaac:In Europe, it's not the same. And to the person who was trying to say I don't understand, some stores explicitly write in their stores that they don't expect any tips from customers. Call it what it is. Anything you are forced to pay is not coming from you. It's the same thing as what the police man does to you here in Nigeria. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gPkEnflkQtQ Nigerians don't have a mind of their own. Anything foreign, they don't even try to find out its history or their own cultural philosophy, they just zoom, justify it and defend it as if their forefathers invented it. I see that as insecurity and not knowing yourself. If you go to some Asian cultures, the host must give you something. In some other places, you must bring something along for the host. Make una try study una culture before embracing everything foreign.

Musty112:+ No one is compelled to tip, and yes, you are right that it would be wrong to ambush, intimidate or emotionally blackmail anyone into doing so. Nonetheless it is wrong to assume that it is inherently wrong to tip and furthermore you cannot complain that anyone is extra nice to a generous giver. |

JuanDeDios:Bro, I have run service delivery businesses for over 12 years. I know what I am saying. I am not against tipping... I do it all the time. What I am against is making it an unofficial statutory right of service providers, with people getting cussed out or embarrassed when they decline to do so. |

What’s most important here is probably the fact that 99% of Restaurant waiters/waitresses are not employees of the Restaurant and are 100% dependent on the tips as income. The usually bend over backwards a thousand times so as not to offend the customers and thereby secure a tip (income). |

The tipping culture in an America is a disaster. It is basically an extortionist idea that is build on self entitlement. It’s worse than the begging culture in Nigeria. |

Mscheww. She is being paid her salary. To be tipped is NOT her right. Entitled goat 🐐 If the salary is not enough, she should get another job! |

DeepSight:. Bribing and corruption has made this one not to know what is right from what is wrong. Tipping is nonsensical |
| Re: would You Let This Waitress Serve You? And Would You Tip Her? by JuanDeDios: 5:39pm On Jan 11 |
SixSeven:Huh? The pizza delivery guy is underpaid too. (That means he learns less per hour than other people doing comparative jobs in the same economy). Like the waiter, the pizza delivery guy is underpaid because paying him comparatively well would make the cost of pizza to be very high. Corruption? Ha. I think you should check the dictionary meaning of the word. No, I don't support compulsion or bringing a gun to the matter. |

LordIsaac:Oh ok. I agree but they all know and even have this stereotype that black people no send their papa when it comes to tipping. On Uber, I don’t see how such expectation impact me. I order service then get notification for feedback and tip later after dropoff. No pressure, I tip if I feel you went the extra mile in customer service. Ubuntu |

Those wicked customers treated her badly, but she should have kept her cool and tongue-lashed them if at all, rather than attacking them with a leaf blower. But those stingy guys did ask to be uplifted though |
| Re: would You Let This Waitress Serve You? And Would You Tip Her? by SixSeven: 6:33pm On Jan 11 |
JuanDeDios:What you did is justification for corruption. Let's leave who is right or wrong. I am more interested in your comment that it is not corruption. Can you define corruption please? Are you aware inducement is a form of corruption? How come Obama rejected some gifts when he was President? Let's leave America and their double standards because they allow their companies support corruption through what they call facilitation payments. I ask you, what is corruption and please analyze the scenario of tipping and why it is not corruption. I want to learn something new. |

Adam began to 'salivate' and prophecy at the sight of the beautiful Eve, not knowing that sugary thibgs lead to major illnesses which ultimately led to his death. Experience is the best teacher! joseph1832:

Musty112:Giving Tips is not compulsory. I think she got offended by what the customers wrote , like a feedback, despite stressing her. If they’d left without the comment, we won’t be reading this Mind you, rounding up the bill is alright for a tip. If they had also made it 170, it’s a tip. This aspect of Tipping is also done in Nigeria. For example when one sells a sachet water (‘Pure water’) for 10 Naira, and 3 for 20Naira. The Price of one is about 6Naira, but then it’s rounded up, and that’s acceptable |
