Jigawa LG Chairman Confirms Direct Federal Allocations

A Local Government Chairman in Jigawa State has confirmed that councils are now receiving their federal allocations directly, marking a clear shift toward financial transparency and grassroots empowerment.

The confirmation aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s firm warning at the last NEC meeting, where he made it clear that funds meant for local governments must reach them without interference.

Indeed, the fear of President Tinubu’s warning has proven to be the beginning of wisdom, signalling the end of diversion, sharp practices, and backdoor control of local government funds.

This development reinforces the Renewed Hope administration’s commitment to accountability, fiscal discipline, and strengthening governance at the grassroots level.

This is why we support Tinubu, his reform will transform Nigeria, gradually we are moving towards federalism without change of constitution.

It is only Tinubu that can achieve that, now development will spread faster to the rural communities, and reduce the rural urban migration

Leave the zombies and drop your comment. Go and confirm from your local government if allocations are now being received directly from FAAC or not.

The Crusader of Bad News in Nigeria will not reacts to this positive development, because it doesn't feed his followers the much needed oxygen to grow their hatred for PBAT.

They would gladly see Nigeria burn if Obi was going to be President of the Ashes.
E no go work.

Some are already seeing it as propaganda, and that's exactly the tool their representative use to steal public funds Right under their nose. Collect and deny or remain silent as if nothing happened. SM in Oyo did something similar not long ago. And that's what most LGA chairmen are going to do.

For any well meaning Nigerian, this is a positive step. It's past time Nigeria behave like an actual Federation.

no vex eh, you know some governors made laws that will mandate local government chairmen to remit some percentage of the funds to them. Does the laws still apply?

This is a good development, but still ineffective until LG council elections are taken from governors.

However, I don't think LGAs deserve total freedom though. There should be a federal agency that oversees what they do with money. LGA chairmen don't even like living in their locality.

Are all the 744 local councils saying same? Normally things like this shouldn't even be debated because once the supreme court makes a judgement it should be obeyed immediately but not in Nigeria.

if it is lamba king, the chief mourner of the federation (CMFN) that you are talking about, you should know that he did not conduct any LGA elections when he was governor of his state until it was the 7 year,-10 months into his administration, just a few weeks before handing over to his successor.
So when it comes to real democratic credentials, he does not have it. He however excels in bad news crusade and attending burials
