Two Rivers Lawmakers Make U-Turn On Fubara's Impeachment Plot by Newsgeek24(op): 5:59pm On Jan 12

The Minority Leader and member representing Omuma state constituency at the Rivers State House of Assembly, Sylvanus Nwankwo and his colleague, Peter Abbey representing the Degema Constituency have retraced their steps in the ongoing plot to impeach Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his Deputy.

At a press conference in Port Harcourt on Monday, the duo urged the State Assembly to reconsider its step.

According to them, the decision followed an appeal from “our elders and leaders”, who begged for leniency.

They said, “Rivers State issued a notice of impeachment on Governor Fubara and his Deputy. We appeal to our fellow colleagues to temper justice with mercy and see how we can solve this matter without the impeachment proceedings.

“Having listened to so many calls from our elders and leaders, both within and outside the state, we are begging our colleagues to reconsider our steps and see how this matter can be resolved amicably even though the governor and his deputy have infringed on the Constitution”.

Very Nigerian reports that the governor and his Deputy were served impeachment notice on Thursday last week over alleged gross misconduct.

They need 2/3 to impeach him. Use money and get just 15 or 16 members on your side and factionalize the assembly.

Make them an offer they can't resist

Let two speakers emerge

Let the factions suspend each other and create chaos.

For every action of the other faction, let your faction do the opposite

Use part of the money you would have used to settle Nwike to service your faction.

Honestly, seeing Amawhuele or whatever his name following Wike in 'thank you tour' laid credence to the fact that they were being used by him. Does it mean that he too did not have elder in his constituency like these two of colleagues that just borrow sense? Or is it greed of becoming governor in subtle way that is propelling him?
