Man Walks Again After Surviving Five-storey Fall, Escapes Amputation by alphonsojidebab(op): 6:47am On Jan 13
A Nigerian man has reportedly regained full mobility after surviving a five-storey fall and overcoming medical predictions that his leg would need to be amputated, in a story that has stirred widespread reactions online.

The account was shared by a Nigerian lady identified as @Vickish11 on social media, while reacting to reports surrounding the death of author Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie’s son, which some Nigerians have linked to alleged medical negligence. Eyes Of Lagos reports,

According to her narration, her father suffered a devastating accident several years ago after falling from a five-storey building. He was rushed to a hospital in critical condition, where doctors reportedly informed the family that his leg had sustained irreparable damage and required immediate amputation.

However, the man’s wife rejected the recommendation and insisted on exploring other medical options.

The family transferred him to another hospital, but the situation reportedly remained the same. Doctors at the second facility allegedly declined initial admission due to the severity of his condition and, after evaluation, also advised that amputation was the only viable solution.

Faced with limited options and distrusting conventional treatment at that stage, the family opted for an alternative route.

According to the account, the injured man was taken to a traditional medical practitioner, where his leg was treated over a prolonged period. The treatment reportedly involved repeated bone resetting, application of herbal pads, and consistent care.

Against medical expectations, the man’s condition gradually improved. Over time, his leg healed completely, and he regained the ability to walk without assistance.

Today, the man is said to be fully mobile, walking normally and having returned to work.

The story has since gone viral, sparking intense debate across social media platforms. While some users described the recovery as a testament to faith, patience, and resilience, others cautioned against dismissing modern medical advice, urging a balanced approach to healthcare decisions.

Sharing her experience, @Vickish11 wrote:

“A few years ago, my dad fell from a five-storey building. Doctors said his leg was beyond repair and needed to be cut off. My mum refused. We tried another hospital, and they said the same thing. Eventually, we took him to a traditional doctor. Against all odds, his leg healed completely. Today, he walks normally and is back to work.”

The story has reignited discussions on medical trust, alternative healthcare, and patient autonomy in Nigeria’s health system.

I’ve heard this before in Nigeria, though. When it comes to bone-related issues, traditional practitioners often outperform orthodox doctors.
Orthodox doctors use Plaster of Paris (POP) to immobilize a broken leg, but traditional practitioners take a different approach—they manually realign the bones. People who’ve experienced it say it’s incredibly painful, but they explain that your reactions help them pinpoint exactly where to focus and how to treat the injury.

For everything else, though, I’d stick with orthodox medicine.

Note: This isn’t medical advice—just sharing what I’ve heard.

The man is really fortunate.

It is advisable never to fall head straight. This increases your chances of survival. Landing on your legs may provide the best possibility for survival.

It is best not to fall at all grin grin grin

I heard that with the way traditional bone arrangers always do their arrangements that they might just cause further damage to the body in the future because they don't take consideration of blood vessels and other delicate parts in the body.

I'm not a doctor or anything just based on what I heard
