Usain Bolt: Once World Fastest Man Now Struggles To Climb Stairs. by TouchNfollow(op): 8:19pm On Jan 14
"When I walk up stairs, I get out of breath:’ Usain Bolt on how retirement made him feel human again

The post shares a side-by-side image contrasting Usain Bolt's peak athletic form in 2008 with a 2024 photo of him on crutches post-Achilles rupture, underscoring how time erodes physical prowess at age 39.

Bolt's 2025 interviews corroborate the image's claim, revealing he avoids running and tires climbing stairs due to the injury and pre-existing scoliosis shortening his right leg by 0.5 inches.

Recent attendance at a Saudi Pro League match on 12 January 2026, where he appeared mobile without aids, prompts replies questioning the post's timeliness, blending verified backstory with current observations.

That's life for you.

Nothing new!

As a man, take care of yourself and your health. Enjoy the best time of your life now that you're young. Travel, explore, drive, talk to that girl and invite her over, and do that which you have always wanted to do. A time is coming when you will not have the energy to do any of that again. You either live in regrets wishing if you had done all that back then or you live in fulfilment smiling while remembering how you've enjoyed your youthfulness with so much love and happiness.

The choice is yours

For some reason I feel he is hiding something! The downgrade in his health is shocking.

Nothing lasts forever. Make the most use of the opportunities you have today. He cannot run again but he is living on what he earned during his running career.

That is the consequences of training a body for a strenuous activity. After a prolonged absense from the strenuous activity, the body begins to act funny, and it may never be the same for the athlete.

Sports is fun at the beginning, until retirement. I know what my pen pal in Australia suffered when he retired from rugby. From early morning laboured breaths, to weakness in body parts, to high blood sugar levels, to blurry vision or shaky hands. He currently works as a cashier in Perth, to allow him exercise with minimal effort.

Flower is born, flower is gone. Life.

I do jog once or twice every week. I stay upstairs 2nd floor, if I jog and clamb up to stsor I won't feel any pain, but if I don't jog for like 2days I will feel some pain. Friend told me to keep jogging that the pain will be off I say no. Jogging is good, but being addicted to it is bad. At some time in age I may stop joging and body will start pick up, Na wahala be that.

Same thing I did when I was training my muscles. Felt pain for weeks, couldn't even lift an arm to write marker on the board for students. I read online that if I should continue, the pains will wear off. Continued, though the pain was less but the effects were recurring headaches.

I even want to reduce my exercises by half so that I go fit see strength teach my students, otherwise make teacher no go faint for lectures. Na big wahala be that.

Yes it is good, but should be done moderately. Coupled with good diet, outdoor lifestyle with cultivating meaningful relationship with people, he'll live long.

This is not such a big deal.

Usain Bolt is just making a big deal out of nothing. He is an attention seeker.
