The Edo State Police Command has arrested a 34-year-old vulcanizer, Idris Isiaka, for allegedly staging his own abduction and extorting ransom money from his family in Emaudo, Ekpoma, Edo State.

The command’s spokesperson, ASP Eno Ikoedem, disclosed this in a statement issued on Wednesday, January 14, 2026, revealing that the suspect orchestrated the fake kidnapping and demanded a ransom of ₦12 million from his relatives. Eyes Of Lagos reports,

It will be recalled that one Obehi Odine was apprehended a few days ago at Ekpoma Division for staging her own kidnap and demanding for ransom of Ten Million Naira (10,000,000).

A similar incident has been recorded in Emaudo, Ekpoma where one Idris Isiaka ‘m’, a 34-year-old vulcanizer of Balogun Street, Emaudo Community, Ekpoma deliberately staged his own kidnap along with two others on Saturday 10/01/2026.

He immediately engineered the circulation of his kidnap on social media through a blogger and demanded a ransom of Twelve Million Naira (₦12,000,000). His family in Kogi State was further contacted, threatening that he will be killed if the ransom was not paid.

His brother however, sold his property and paid part of the ransom money which was shared with his accomplices, one Mohammed Saliu ‘m’ and Godwin Mohammed ‘m’, both of whom are currently at large. The suspect has confessed to the crime. He will be arraigned in court after investigation.

Ekpoma again? I'm beginning to turn radar to that twn now for being one the news recently for bad news.

Edo people na wah oo like play like play this thing don dey go uncontrollable and we are shouting now una dey insult us it's highly alarming that a once peaceful state with peaceful people minding their business turned haven of criminals, cultistism, tribalism, insults, disrespectful, thugs,now to worst it all kidnapping this is very very bad and it all began to these explosive stage in 2023.

The state govetnor must sit up now before Kogi and Kwara scenario(God forbid) begins in Edo it will be very bad. Now people are beginning to hear Edo and run away due to all these bad social norms. Not good oo to be honest...

You mean The Grissom Gang, another name for it is No Orchid For Miss Blandish.
But the storyline differ slightly from this one.A small time criminal gang plan to kidnap a daughter of a billionaire for little amount,but when they eventually kidnap her,the plan leaked to the hands of a more cruel and sophisticated gang.
Before the father knows what is happening,the gang started by sending one of the ears of the girl to the father just to tell him they mean business.
I have read over 80 James Hadley Chase novels ,and I always wonder where the man got his inspiration from.
