Zidane was an amateur when he took over from Benitez and he led Madrid to 3 successive UCL titles. Pep Guardiola was an amateur when he took over from Frank rikjards at Barca. The thing is, Spanish clubs love to recruit from their ranks because these coaches understand their philosophy and style of play and know the players well. Zidane was Madrid's second team coach before taking over. Same for Pep. The list is endless.

You have said it all,Alonso only played at Real Madrid,but the Madrid process is not embedded in him,Both Zidane and Arbeloa are Madrid through and through,Arbeloa and Zidane,Raul inclusive,moulded the bunch of young players coming up in ranks at Real Madrid,even the recalled sacked fitness coach,Pintus,would have done a better job than Alonso.

Madrid never regrets sacking an underperforming coach. They rather become much better. Go and ask Rafa Benitez whom Zidane took over from and led Madrid to 3 successive champions league trophy. Or ask Julen lopetegui who Zidane took over from and led Madrid to Spanish league titles and cups. Madrid has zero tolerance for underperformance and that's why that club has performed greatly well over the years. Alonso really lowered that standard. In fact I'm surprised he's been sacked now. He should have been sacked long ago
