If we are also ready we'll go back to working hard on our grassroots football and calling up available foreign borns. Several of the Moroccan players today were born outside the country while Senegal is a good mix of both hard work in building youngsters and taking the ones not capped by France
Grass root football in Nigeria is bedeviled by too many demons that requires a total sweep.

The ones we took to CHAN that could not even string 2-3 passes nko?

We are talking of home based that were booted after the first round after losing to Senegal and Sudan! Abeg shey na those ones wan go AFCON?

🗣️ Fabio Capello claims that Pep Guardiola has negatively impacted football:

"You know what I don’t like about Guardiola? His arrogance. The Champions League he won with City is the only one where he didn’t try anything funny in the decisive matches."

"But all the other years, in Manchester and Munich, on key days, he always wanted to be the protagonist. He would change things and invent them so he could say: ‘It’s not the players who win, it’s me’. And that arrogance cost him several Champions Leagues. I respect him, but for me, it’s clear."

"Besides, even if it is no longer his fault, he has done a lot of harm to football. Because everyone spent ten years trying to copy him."

"It ruined Italian football, which lost its nature. I said: 'Stop, you don't have Guardiola's players'! There was also the absurd idea that that was all there was to do to play well."

"A disaster and also a boredom that made many people flee from football, they only have to watch the highlights, why are you going to watch 90 minutes of passes and horizontal passes without fighting, without running...?"

"Fortunately, football is changing. First of all, Spain changed it by winning the European Championship with two wingers and playing fast."

We need to search for technically proficient CMs too to remove the workload from iwobi
Hopefully Carney Chukwuemeka coming soon

Joe Aribo BTW never had a bad game for Nigeria and can play CM, AM and RW. I don't know why they jettisoned that lad.

It's disheartening that youth football that used to be a source of joy and pride has become so stagnant nowadays. To even court foreign borns like other African nations is not easy again cause most of them want to wait to see if they have a chance with their adopted countries. Our attack and the defence is okay despite all these sha so we just need to search for talents to complement us fully

We can’t compare our NPFL to the domestic leagues in Morocco, Egypt, South Africa, Algeria, Ivory Coast or even Ghana. Our domestic league used to compete with those countries but corruption and other issues no go gree.

Those countries can call on a few home based players to support their national team but we can’t because the truth is we don’t have the quality. As it stands, Reno Stars are about the only team you can say are even standard. I can’t remember the last time we had a youth prodigy. I mean, I can’t even mention one player to watch for in our youth teams.

I mean look at the current squad, the bulk of them started in Nigeria before dream moves to Europe, so this thing isn’t necessarily about “Nigerianess”! If anything, our foreign born players like Bassey, Iwobi, Ajayi, Lookman performed better and showed more heart than homegrown players like Osimhen/ Chukwueze/ Moses Simon/ Adams

Andrey Santos low key looking like a fraud.

The guy might be an imposter cus no Brazilian is going to be lacking the confident to make a pass between players.

Probably from Venezuela.

That building play from back this Chelsea new coach is trying to establish will boomerang against teams that press high up the pitch.

The way most of Chelsea defenders and midfielders overturned the ball yesterday with just medium press from Arsenal's front men, it gives the vibe that they are not built for that style of play.

If not that Arsenal players were wasteful in front of goal, the scores would've been scandalous. If were as clinical as we were against spurs, Chelsea fans would've been cussing the team for trying to play a pattern they are not suited for yet.

Banter aside, anybody that blames Chukwueze yesterday is just looking for a scapegoat.

Chukwueze is the clown of the team! I posted here days that he plays too much. Watch his clips. He is just a bonding master. Period. He jokes, makes people laugh, just a bundle of vibes..

And you throw in such a player to the serious business end of a match? The coach mess up big time. The only time Chukwueze should have taken a PK is just before the GK or the last option sef.

Did you see his casual walk up, chewing gum (even blowing the gum just before running up to kick the ball grin)

This is who he is. Na the coach wey throw him in I go blame. And the so called senior players, especially Osimhen, wey dodge responsibility.

Make dem free chukwueze. Penalty is anybody's game. The coach didn't have a plan b when Morocco use sand spoil our main plan. I thought he will bring wingers to disturb them when them kolobi our midfield. Dem no allow our forwards play anything because of marking.

This is the first game and you have already come to the conclusion that we are not built for that style.

It is still the coach very first game and so there would be mistakes which is unavoidable for someone trying to implement is own style.

Personally i don't like building at the back style but if the new coach thinks he can get the desired results with it then why not?

He'll learn to sit back when he plays more matches with us but apart from your missed chances I think with our build up we gave you guys problems when we looked for goals. You guys are better structured and have more experience than us.

It's not about being the first or 38th game, Just taking a look at some of your players and seeing how uncomfortable they were playing the ball and taking decisions with it, one can tell some of them do not have the required skillset for that playing pattern. Cucurella was decently comfortable with the ball at his feet, but the rest of the backline looked out of place knocking the ball around at the back.

Maybe if some of those players are replaced with others who are better suited for the style, maybe things might be different.

For most part of the first half u guys overturned the ball with mild pressing from our attack guys. Odegaard just attention Saka, Trossard and Gyokeres to stay on their respective men and the ball either gets played out or onto the legs of our midfielders who have marked urs out.

It was really the second half you were able to break the press . Pedro was dribbling his way through because Odegaard wasn't doing tight marking while Esteavo had a go at Timber few times because Trossard wasn't putting his back into marking like he did in the first half. Maybe it was due to the first half booking he got sha.

I agree with u that the new coach will learn some lessons as time goes by

Tucheliban got that name due to our defence was during that period.

We can check this thread for confirmation

The formation a coach use barely matters,it is how they execute it. You can play a 5-4-1 formation that seems defensive on paper but your execution can be an attacking one so saying playing 3-4-3 makes him haram is not it.

With Tuchel with us,our build up was slow because of excessive passes both at the back and in the middle of the back because he was more concerned about looking for perfect ball than actually winning. The annoying thing about this passes is that they were mostly horizontal passes and backwards.

We were having less shot in general. Attack was dull. Fast transition was an abomination. Clear out was a crime. Only Thiago Silva atimes tries to play those overhead passes. Everything was reminiscent of a playing pattern that wanted to model pep with that the ideal players.

Look at Chilwell under potter haven master back passes under Tuchel.
