Bybit P2P: Buyer Refused Receipt & Threatened Chargeback by tayecrypto(op): 2:55pm On Jan 15
Good day house,

I’m posting this to seek advice and also create awareness.

I recently carried out a P2P trade on Bybit as a seller. The buyer marked the order as paid, and I received the funds successfully in my bank account.

However, I noticed that the payment was made from a corporate (business) account, not a personal account. For my own safety and proper record-keeping, I politely requested a payment receipt / transfer confirmation.

The buyer has since:
• Refused to provide any payment receipt
• Given different excuses over several days for not uploading proof
• Repeatedly pressured me to release the crypto
• Asked me to refund the money
• Eventually threatened chargeback if I don’t release the coin

Due to these concerns, I have not released the crypto. The trade is still in Bybit escrow, and I have now opened an appeal on Bybit, submitting all chat screenshots and transaction evidence.

I’m not denying that payment was received. My concern is the risk of reversal, especially since:
• The payment came from a corporate account
• The buyer refuses to provide proof
• Chargeback threats have been made

Bybit itself warns users about chargeback-related risks in P2P transactions, which is why I chose to escalate through the platform rather than act hastily.

I would appreciate advice from the house:
1. Has anyone experienced a similar issue on Bybit or other P2P platforms?
2. Is it unreasonable to request a receipt when payment comes from a corporate account?
3. What would you advise sellers to do in situations like this?

Thank you for your time and insights.

Does the bank name same with his bybit registered name? If yes release it. But if no, don't release. Tell him to cancel the trade so you refund him.

But I still don't know why you guys keep using bybit p2p, that place has too much problems, filled with scammers and thieves. Use Bitget, or Mexc. No scammer can try nonsense in bitget and get away with it
