Like the popular saying goes: What goes around comes around.

Before Osun state was carved out of Old Oyo state, Ooni Sijuade was the permanent chairman of the Old Oyo state council of traditional rulers. The late Alaafin Adeyemi fought Ooni Sijuade all through till the military government created Osun state in 1992.

The Olubadan and the Soun are now doing the same to the Alaafin. However, unlike Alaafin Adeyemi that was not successful in his bid to start a rotation in Old Oyo state, the Soun and Olubadan suceeded at it in the new Oyo state.

I hope this won't start another royal rumble? Each royal father knows and controls his domain. Unnecessary competition is never healthy for any society.

They are controlling their own domain.

Governor Makinde and the Oyo state house of asembly started the rotation for justice, fairness, and equity.

Truth be told, if not for Ibadan, Fulani would have colonized the whole of Yorubaland. They deserve their flowers.

If not for Ibadan, alot of us would have been bearing names like AbdulRaman, Abdullahi, Abdulmalik e.t.c just like in Ilorin. The Ibadans were the ones that stopped the conquest of the Fulani jihadist at Oshogbo on the their way to dip their sword in the Atlantic ocean as per the desire of Uthman Dan Fodio.

Sacrilege!

What a time!
Kingdom, kingship and throne has no been reduced to political and age position, it's no longer about the throne...

This absolutely makes no sense!

This can never happen in Edo, Ogun or Osun state, where ọọni is the permanent chairman.
Why is that? Are the Paramount kings in those states that are the PERMANENT chairman the only king in those states?
Even before the creation of Osun State, Alaafin was above ọọni,
The Alaafin of Oyo served as the Chairman of the Oyo State Council of Obas and Chiefs.
By that structure, he was the official presiding traditional ruler over Obas from Oyo, Osun, and parts of present-day Ogun State.

It was even Alaafin that made olubadan who used to just be a chief to Alaafin a king, he created that Kingdom.

Give respect and honour to whom it is due.

Absolutely nonsense

See what all these hungry and senile politicians have reduced our paramount royal councils into.

In osun State, we have more the 30 obas and up to 10 important and powerful ones, but the ọọni that's even lower to Alaafin is made the PERMANENT chairman - DUE TO SELFISH POLITICS...
But in ọyọ state, that DAFT GOVERNOR CAN PUT OLUBADAN ABOVE ALAAFIN.

Fate loves irony!
This was also the same reason why Ladoja was removed as governor back then. There's a video on Tiktok where the late Alaafin was saying he conspired to remove Ladoja because of this same issue (Ladoja attempted it as governor, but the rotation then was supposed to be just between Alaafin and Olubadan, before he was later impeached).

ignoring the absence anyway Governor Makinde’s announcement of Oba Rashidi Ladoja as chairman reflects strategic political balancing, ensuring the key traditional rulers remain aligned with state governance.
The rotational arrangement signals an effort to maintain influence and unity among the major stools while navigating the state’s political landscape.

Pride.

And the politicians are watching. There was a video of him being embarrassed by the Ondo state govenor recently at an event.

He needs to come down from his pedestal. Afterall, he was not even meant to be the Alaafin if not for the governor that sidelined the Oyo Mesis.

Ibadan meesi ogo

It will be suicidal to have that power hungry young man with zero experience of leadership to be the chairman of a congregation like this at this present moment.

But the Alaafin tried it old Oyo state now. He gave Ooni Sijuade so much headache.. oh well, now the ones in new Oyo state are doing same to him. Maybe Ibadan would get their own state eventually too.

As for now, it's all about Justice, fairness, and equity as per the speech from the Governor Makinde at the event.

If the Ibadan don't stop them, Egba will wink

Egbaland has the greatest terrain to unleash defeat on invaders. In warfare, terrain matters a lot.

That's why US couldn't defeat the Taliban and Iran’s edge in hiding missiles and other powerful military assets inside mountains but launch the missiles from mountain tops. Same as Nepal during the defunct British empire colonial expansion.

If truth be told the governor should have named the Alafin first before His Royal Highness Ladoja to respect order of hierarchy. However, political and personal reasons like the coronation and giving of the president's son title couple with how the Alafin been caught in the webs of so many unfortunate melo dramas the governor has to do what he did.

Relegating Alaafin of Oyo for a mere chief in Ibadan doesn't make sense.

Alaafin should be supreme in Oyo state.
