FreeStuffsNG:
If the Ibadan don't stop them, Egba will wink

Egbaland has the greatest terrain to unleash defeat on invaders. In warfare, terrain matters a lot.

That's why US couldn't defeat the Taliban and Iran’s edge in hiding missiles and other powerful military assets inside mountains but launch the missiles from mountain tops. Same as Nepal during the defunct British empire colonial expansion.
There were Ebga soldiers in the Ibadan soldiers too.

Remember that Ibadan was settled by soldiers from various Yoruba kingdoms. All these soldiers, on defeating Owu, did not return home and instead created the first true republican kingdom of Yorubaland.

And the Egba settlement in Abeokuta itself was busy pushing back the Dahomeans.

Makinde is really trying alot for H.E Oba Ladoja, after naming the circular road after him, he has done this again....

People will surely vote for his candidate come next election, that if he has...
Ladoja conceptualized the road including the road map , ajimobi started it and SEYI continues ...
Hopefully penkelemessi will complete it
Argue with fact not sentiment

He played politics with King Ladoja and wanted to frustrate him in becoming the king, Ibadan elders had to prevail on King Ladoja to accept the reform and directive set by Makinde which was pure vendetta.
Naming circular road after Baba Ladoja was in 2022, during election campaign, it was election strategy.

Quiet unfortunate, hence the reason I don't condemn the disrespect they receive from the politicians.

Governor Makinde and the Oyo state house of asembly started the rotation for justice, fairness, and equity.

Truth be told, if not for Ibadan, Fulani would have colonized the whole of Yorubaland. They deserve their flowers.

If not for Ibadan, alot of us would have been bearing names like AbdulRaman, Abdullahi, Abdulmalik e.t.c just like in Ilorin. The Ibadans were the ones that stopped the conquest of the Fulani jihadist at Oshogbo on the their way to dip their sword in the Atlantic ocean as per the desire of Uthman Dan Fodio.
Where is the fairness and justice in Osun State?
Is the ọọni the only King and paramount king in Osun State? Let's not be hypocritical in our analysis.

Which one is if not for Ibadan?
Some of you just like creating unnecessary divisions
What's the difference between Oyo and Ibadan?
Who even created and fortified the Ibadan? Is not not Alaafin - Oyo? Are the Ibadan chiefs not Alaafin chiefs from the beginning?

Tell me the exact pride of Alaafin that some of you keeps talking about? That a king does not stand to greet another king is now disrespect? You think kingship is about age? How will it look to you if a father is standing to greet a son or subject? Historically, All these Yoruba kings you see today were subjects to Alaafin, many were just chiefs before Alaafin made some of them kings. Royal is about culture and history, and not about age of the person on the throne or today's politics.

What a time!
Kingship, kingship and throne has no been reduced to political and age position, it's no longer about the throne...

This absolutely makes no sense!

This can never happen in Osun State, where ọọni is the permanent chairman. Why is that?
Even before the creation of Osun State, Alaafin was above ọọni...
It was even Alaafin that made olubadan who used to just be a chief to Alaafin a king, he created that Kingdom.

Give respect and honour to whom it is due.
Some of you don’t know history. You just come online to react without having a perfect understanding of the issues.

Without Ibadan, there wouldn’t be an Alaafin at Ago Oja today. The new Oyo where we now have an Alaafin owns their existence to the benevolence of the Ibadan people.

Again, the Oyo that once ruled over an empire is dead. Dead and buried. It is never coming back. Alaafin’s current jurisdiction is limited strictly to Ago Oja and nowhere else. Ibadan or any other town is not under the control whatsoever of any Alaafin. In fact, Ibadan is a bigger, richer and more influential city than Oyo so it’s even the Olubadan that should be making the case for the permanent chairmanship of Oyo State council of Obas.

What is this nonsense of if not for Ibadan that I keep reading!?
It's like a situation of Nigeria at war, Abuja and the president is under attack and ogun state or kogi State governor coming to his rescue etc. Take a moment to digest that.
So because Ogun State or kogi State came to the rescue of the president, then we should all worship them and place them above the president? Does that even make sense to you?
Was the olubadan not a chief to Alaafin?
Were these warriors and soldiers in Ibadan not subjects of Alaafin?
Go and educate yourself on history and Kingdom of the Yoruba people.

Like the popular saying goes: What goes around comes around.

Before Osun state was carved out of Old Oyo state, Ooni Sijuade was the permanent chairman of the Old Oyo state council of traditional rulers. The late Alaafin Adeyemi fought Ooni Sijuade all through till the military government created Osun state in 1992.

The Olubadan and the Soun are now doing the same to the Alaafin. However, unlike Alaafin Adeyemi that was not successful in his bid to start a rotation in Old Oyo state, the Soun and Olubadan suceeded at it in the new Oyo state.

So because Ogun State or kogi State came to the rescue of the president, then we should all worship them and place them above the president? Does that even make sense to you?
You actually gave a wrong analogy.

1. In a democracy, the president is elected to lead a sovereign state. In the old Oyo empire, the Alaafin used military might to subjugate and control so many towns. Once the emperor loses the military power, all previous tributaries will gain their independence. Some can even become more powerful than the old empire. A good example is the British empire that is now a toothless bulldog and America, a former colony that is now more powerful. So, should the American president still be paying homage and taking orders from the British crown?

2. The Old Oyo empire was completely destroyed. It no longer exists. Ibadan was founded after the destruction of the old Oyo empire. So, due to the need to preserve the history of an empire that was once great, Ibadan leaders thought it wise to recreate another Oyo royal dynasty at Ago Oja, a place very far away from the original Oyo that had been burnt down by Ilorin forces. Prince Atiba, one of the surviving prince of the old Oyo was crowned and they used their military power to protect him. So, it wasn’t a case of a vassal state defending the empire and rescuing the emperor in a war situation, it’s the case of a new power helping to preserve the history of an old power.

3. We are now in a democratic republic and everyone is subjected to the rule of law. The law setting up Oyo State council of Obas is very clear; the chairmanship must be rotated between the Olubadan, Alaafin and Soun. So, this is not even about any history but the law. If the Alaafin thinks there is something wrong with the law, he should go to court and challenge it. It’s that simple.

well government and politics is part of history and is now added to the recent history and current culture.
So,
you can't remove government and politics from life.
Forget your emotions or fantasy.
Empires will always exist in different forms, so nobody holy pass.
Meanwhile, if government say Ooni is the head, then he is the head.
Government is part of culture and and kingship knows Their rank.

And the politicians are watching. There was a video of him being embarrassed by the Ondo state govenor recently at an event.

He needs to come down from his pedestal. Afterall, he was not even meant to be the Alaafin if not for the governor that sidelined the Oyo Mesis.
Why are they not rotating council leadership in osun?

Alaafin is still the no 1 king for all the yorubas.

They may not like the current king but the stool is what began the whole yoruba race.
