Nigeria prepares for a massive shift as electric vehicles take over the roads in 2026.

If you have spent any time in Nigerian traffic lately, you will notice that the conversation is slowly changing from the price of a “pure water” sachet to the skyrocketing cost of fueling a car. For years, we have been married to our petrol engines, but that long-term relationship is currently facing a serious test.

This topic should have come with a poll question. I just read a development where engineers are building roads that can power EV cars and they won't have to charge all the time. I'm not a fan of EV because I love control but I was sha happy to see that man is always thinking of progress. The question:

A. Did you think as a child that when you became an adult, your children will not experience UP NEPAhuh

B. Did you as an adult in the 60s-70s think Nigeria will get back to the regular power supply in the futurehuh

This one is for Gen Z and don't feel ashamed to respond.

C. Are you ashamed that 24/7 electricity is a problem you can't believe Nigerian adults i.e. your parents and elders have been too comfortable withhuh

It can never be for all, but a good majority. A friend loaded his lobby with batteries like that of a Dangote CNG truck. In just just six months of usage he is looking for buyers for his solar equipments he spent over 3.5m on.

Its actually a very innovative and lucrative business if one can think ahead, taking advantage of the abysmal power situation in the country. Think solar farms with portable charge stations

They are bulky, heavy and needs serious maintenance like refilling the batteries.
