Very funny people... You just want to twist and change history by force. When did ọọni started becoming king?
Before Oranmiyan was born.
All written by the Oyo apologist were fake. I would accept them as fact if you could back them up with any scientific proof and not the usual tales by the moonlight stories.

You can’t engage the colonial leaders to rewrite our history.

For you to say this, You either don't know anything about Yoruba history and Kingdom, or you're just a hypocrite.
Ọọni is never and will never be above Alaafin of ọyọ, and I'm not even from ọyọ State.
You are not even from Oyo state, so where do you get all these nonsenses you are vomitinghuhhuh

I know you’ve been adamant despite all the corrections they’ve been correcting you on this issue but people will believe your argument if you can convince the Federal government of Nigeria to remove Ooni of ife as co-chairman of Traditional rulers council of Nigeria and Permanent chairman of Southern Nigeria Traditional rulers council and replace it with your Alaafin.

Mtchewwww.

well government and politics is part of history and is now added to the recent history and current culture.
So you can remove government and politics from life now.
Forget your emotions or fantasy.
Empires will always exist in different form, so nobody holy pass.
Meanwhile, if government say Ooni is the head, then he is the head.
Government is part of culture and and kingship knows Their rank.
It's either you just wanna ignore government irrationaly or just please your inner mind
Don’t mind that joker saying rubbish with pride up and down.

Why are they not rotating council leadership in osun?

Alaafin is still the no 1 king for all the yorubas.

They may not like the current king but the stool is what began the whole yoruba race.

Which stool began the whole Yoruba race?

Oduduwa stool or that of his son Oranmiyan?

Oyo people make una get sense nah.

The permanent chairman of the old Oyo State Council of Obas before Osun State was created was the Ooni of Ife. Specifically, this position was held by Oba Okunade Sijuwade (the 50th Ooni of Ife) from 1980 until Osun State’s creation in August 1991.

📜 Historical Background

· In 1976, the military administrator of Oyo State, Major General David Jemibewon, issued a decree that made the Ooni of Ife the permanent chairman of the old Oyo State Council of Obas and Chiefs.
· The first Ooni to hold this position under the decree was Oba Adesoji Aderemi (the 49th Ooni). After his death, he was succeeded by Oba Okunade Sijuwade, who was installed as Ooni in December 1980 and continued as permanent chairman of the council.
· Oba Sijuwade remained the permanent chairman until August 1991, when Osun State was carved out of the old Oyo State.

🔍 Key Points

· The role was exclusive to the Ooni of Ife due to the 1976 decree, which sparked a long-standing leadership tussle with other prominent Yoruba monarchs, such as the Alaafin of Oyo.
· After the creation of Osun State, the Ooni of Ife became the permanent chairman of the Osun State Council of Obas and Chiefs, while the old Oyo State council (now covering the reduced Oyo State) later adopted a rotational chairmanship system.

Therefore, the permanent chairman of the old Oyo State Council of Obas before Osun State was created was Oba Okunade Sijuwade, the Ooni of Ife.
A big lie

Alaafin and Ooni were bith permanent chairmen of traditional rulers in Old oyo state before 1992

They are controlling their own domain.

Governor Makinde and the Oyo state house of asembly started the rotation for justice, fairness, and equity.

Truth be told, if not for Ibadan, Fulani would have colonized the whole of Yorubaland. They deserve their flowers.

If not for Ibadan, alot of us would have been bearing names like AbdulRaman, Abdullahi, Abdulmalik e.t.c just like in Ilorin. The Ibadans were the ones that stopped the conquest of the Fulani jihadist at Oshogbo on the their way to dip their sword in the Atlantic ocean as per the desire of Uthman Dan Fodio.
Ibadan played a great role but let's stop denigrating what is known to all.

Meanwhile, as someone mentioned here is an historical landmark at Mapo Hall Ibadan (1929). Not even 1829.
As many have noted here, in Yoruba history and tradition, there is only one Alaafin. The use of Alaafin of Oyo is a later day invention. Alaafin was traditionally known simply as Alaafin all over Yorubaland. The real history of Ibadan and Ogbomoso among others alludes to that. Alaafin was their king.

Clearly written:
Shiyanbola Ladugbolu (Ladigbolu) Alaafin, C.M.G
Oyewole Bale Ibadan

Oyo's might was already established long before Ibadan emerged so we can also say the entire South West may have been colonized by Fulanis if not for the powerful Alaafins of old. Many of them died protecting the region and Alaafin's stopped going to wars directly in the 1830s and Iba Oluyole became Bashorun.

Ooni was the permanent chairman. In fact Alaafin adeyemi told Olubadan asanike that how can ooni from ife be permanent chairman that they should be rotating it among them. Olubadan asanike sat on ooni permanent chairman seat then and ooni walked away. That's how osun state was created

I get am before no be property. Oyo empire is dead and gone. Alaafin only controls 3 local governments. There is no way Alaafin would be permanent chairman over Olubadan. In fact Alaafin has never been the permanent chairman. It's only ooni

I think Ibadan was a settlement camp of warriors made up of generals and junior ranks from different parts of Yoruba land under the authority of alaafin of oyo.
Just like military barracks/garrisons and president in aso rock. Even if external enemy succeeded in burning the whole of aso rock, it is still the duty of the soldiers from far barracks to come to the defence of the president and seat of power.
So according to culture and history Ibadan is a developed warriors camp that transformed to a town and later a city under the authority of a oyo empire, and their baale being upgraded to king by alaafin of oyo.
Alaafin didn't upgrade Ibadan from baale. He does not have such power. There is already governments in 1976. The government did. Ibadan has never been under the authority of oyo empire. Stop the beer parlour gist. In fact Ibadan once influenced who became alaafin

What is this nonsense of if not for Ibadan that I keep reading!?
It's like a situation of Nigeria at war, Abuja and the president is under attack and ogun state or kogi State governor coming to his rescue etc. Take a moment to digest that.
So because Ogun State or kogi State came to the rescue of the president, then we should all worship them and place them above the president? Does that even make sense to you?
Was the olubadan not a chief to Alaafin?
Were these warriors and soldiers in Ibadan not subjects of Alaafin?
Go and educate yourself on history and Kingdom of the Yoruba people.
Ibadan cannot be subjects to alaafin because Ibadan soldiers were already stronger than Alaafin. Ibadan was the strongest as at this time

My brother, there is a big difference between the position of the Ooni and Alaafin. Ile Ife is the source of all humanity. It is our orirun. Whether you’re Alaafin, Oba of Benin, Olu of Warri, Oba of Lagos, Olubadan, Alake etc, we all trace our ancestry and royalty back to Ile Ife.

So, the leadership position of the Ooni is inherent. All Yoruboid groups don’t argue about that. We cannot joke with our source because doing that will amount to denigrating our history.

Alaafin on the other hand has no such inherent leadership position. He became powerful strictly as a result of military conquest. Sadly, he no longer possesses that military power to subjugate other towns. So, nobody owes him any loyalty again. All the vassal states under the old empire are now independent towns under the sovereignty of Nigeria.
Ilé ifẹ is the orisun of humanity indeed. Before oduduwa, who was the ọọni of ìfẹ? Was there anything like ọọni? Ọọni title Just even came up in the 19th century. Was oduduwa ever the ọọni of ìfẹ?

While I understand Makinde's haste in inaugurating the traditional council. His term ends next year and the first rotation would end after his term. He should have brought the Olubadan and Alaafin to agreement before doing so.

When Oba Ladoja was governor, Alaafin Adeyemi was permanent chair. It was Akala that brought the rotational chair idea and the Alaafin went to court. For that reason, no council meeting held for a long time.

Makinde has the privilege of installing all these obas, he should have got them to come to terms either before installation or inaugurating the council. He has postponed the mess to his successor.
