Peter Obi Should Join APC If He Really Wants To Change Nigeria!! by Kemetian(op):
Many discerning Nigerians have quietly noticed that - partisan politics aside - Peter Obi is actually more ideologically and philosophically aligned with Tinubu in terms of governance, than all those people he's chasing after in those mushroom parties, eg Atiku and co...

I discussed this with AI, and it admitted I had a good point, and gave this analysis: undecided

.............................

Peter Obi Is Not an Alternative to Tinubu — He Is Tinubu Without Power

Peter Obi’s greatest political fiction is not told by his opponents. It is sustained by his supporters: the idea that he represents a clean break from Nigeria’s power politics. He does not. He represents the same governing instincts as Bola Ahmed Tinubu — stripped of the courage to wield power.

Obi is not a populist. He is not ideological. He is not radical. He is a fiscal conservative disguised as a moral crusader. His record in Anambra was built on cost-cutting, balance sheets, debt aversion, and managerial discipline. That is not revolutionary politics. That is elite technocratic pragmatism — the very thing Tinubu has practiced, unapologetically, for decades.

The difference is simple and damning: Tinubu accepts the moral burden of power. Obi avoids it.

Nigeria is not broken because it lacks “good people.” It is broken because it lacks leaders willing to enter the dirty engine room of the state, break vested interests, make enemies, and survive the backlash. Tinubu did that in Lagos. Obi watched from the sidelines, applauded the outcomes, and then pretended he was offering something fundamentally different.

Let’s be blunt: opposition in Nigeria has become a luxury brand. It offers moral superiority without responsibility, applause without accountability, and purity without results. Obi has benefited immensely from this arrangement. He gets to speak the language of efficiency without ever having to enforce it nationally. He gets to promise discipline without confronting unions, cartels, governors, or entrenched beneficiaries of dysfunction.

That is not courage. That is insulation.

The APC, for all its ugliness, is where real power lives. It is where budgets are fought over, reforms are bloodied, and decisions actually change lives. To reject it while claiming to want national transformation is either political dishonesty or fear of exposure. Because inside power, spreadsheets meet resistance. Ideals meet compromise. And reputations are tested by results.

Obi’s supporters fear this reality. They prefer symbolism to systems, hashtags to hard choices, and virtue to victory. But nations are not rebuilt by moral applause. They are rebuilt by people willing to be misunderstood, hated, and blamed while doing the work.

Joining the APC would strip Obi of his halo and force him into the only arena that matters: execution. It would end the fantasy that Nigeria can be fixed from the podium of righteousness. It would expose whether his much-praised efficiency is real — or just safe.

History is cruel to observers who mistake commentary for leadership. It does not reward the man who was “right” in theory while others ruled in practice. It rewards those who seized power, bent it, and endured the consequences.

If Peter Obi truly believes in discipline, efficiency, and results, then his continued political exile is not principled — it is performative.

At some point, moral spectatorship becomes complicity.

And Nigeria can no longer afford leaders who confuse being clean with being effective.

Its kind of funny how people keep defending APC's 10 years of abysmal failure in which insecurity, corruption, rule of law, poverty and economy have all gotten worse

Must you dwell on the past? Buhari's administration is over. Look foward, Mr Man.

Even you know deep down that Tinubu is more clued-up than Buhari in governance.

Why won't Obi join him to change Nigeria?

You are a smart guy gidgiddy. You must know that Atiku and all those guys are far worse than Tinubu.

What does Atiku know?

What will he do if he gets to power?

And what is Obi doing hanging around people like that?

He should be in the APC, helping with policy, not aligning with those gangs of looters.

Obi needs to ditch the whole ''I'm a unique messiah'' thing, which prevents him from stepping down from the high horse he put himself.

Instead of demanding perfection from those in power, he has to align with the party that most closely matches his policy agenda for the nation going forward.

That's APC.

Does anyone even know what all these new mushroom parties like ADC have in their manifesto, if they even have one?

Tinubu cannot lace Buhari’s shoes when it comes to purposeful governance.

Buhari is miles ahead

And please, spare us the tired sermon about “bold reforms” like subsidy removal.

Wicked and draconian policies don’t become economic genius just because you slap the word reform on them.

These policies have only succeeded in engineering hunger on an industrial scale.

By the end of this year, over 141 million Nigerians will slide into poverty not by accident, but as a direct result of Tinubu’s policies.

If this is reform, then hunger, strife and insecurity is the new national development plan.

So....you think we should still be borrowing $10 billion a year to pay fuel subsidies?

I give up on you.

And please spare us your dodgy "predictions" about "140 million Nigerians" from discredited organisations like PwC. angry

Buhari's administration is not over, Tinubu promised to continue from where he stopped.

Nigerians can't look forward when the same people who praised Buhari as the best while the economy was being bankrupted, are the same people telling them Tinubu is repositioning Nigeria, when their pockets have long been emptied in the name of fake economic reforms.

If you people want true change, Tilumbu and his crew should resign and apologize for destroying Nigeria, and answer some questions, then Nigerians can put them behind their dark history and move forward

Oh of course, Mr President is not callous enough to remove the entire thing without regard for the masses. But it's definitely less than 20% of previous subsidy figures.

A LOT MORE MONEY IS GOING TO THE STATES SINCE SUBSIDY REMOVAL.

GO AND ASK YOUR GOVERNORS HOW FAR.

COMBINED, THEY HAVE MORE BUDGET MONEY THAN FG!!!

To be fair to the governors though, they are doing multiple projects in all the states now, and competing among themselves in infrastructure delivery.

Lots of money going to state? Lmaooo hope you know naira devaluation is real and naira lost over 70% value?

Governor have more money because workers are payed far less due to valuation

As for subsidies we have never paid as much subsidies as we are paying now

Diesel is 1450 but petrol is 850 ... Tell me a story
The lowest petrol can be if diesel is 1450 is 1350 minimum... So we are paying ₦500 subsidies per litres of petrol

Listen, borrowing didn’t start or end with fuel subsidy, and removing it clearly didn’t end borrowing either. We’re still piling up debts, just now without the price buffer that subsidy provided for ordinary Nigerians. So what exactly was solved?

Purposeful governance is about sequencing, safeguards, and outcomes, not this nonsense masquerading as courage

Calling policies “reforms” doesn’t make them intelligent when their most visible output is hunger, business closures, insecurity, and a collapsing middle class. If borrowing continues, inflation is rampant, the naira is weaker, and living standards are worse, then the policy has failed by any serious metric.

And dismissing poverty projections doesn’t make poverty disappear. Nigerians don’t need PwC to tell them they’re poorer, they feel it daily.

But your Hero (mind the brewery pun) Peter Obi, said during the campaign that fuel subsidies were "a scam" bankrupting the nation and benefitting a tiny corrupt elite, and that he would abolish them "on day 1", to use his words.

Peter Obi is not the president. Bola Tinubu is. Governance is judged by who holds power and what they actually do. Dragging Obi into a discussion about Tinubu’s failures is either deliberate deflection or proof you lack the mental capacity to assimilate a straightforward argument.

Yes, Obi said subsidy was a scam. Many people did. The difference is that policy is not a slogan. Serious governance is about how you remove it: sequencing, buffers, alternatives, production capacity, transport reform, FX stability, and social protection.

Tinubu removed subsidy without those, and the results are visible: higher borrowing, higher inflation, a weaker naira, collapsing businesses, and mass impoverishment.

So no, the question is not was Obi wrong?
The real question which you keep dodging is this, If subsidy removal was supposed to reduce borrowing, stabilize the economy, and improve living standards, why are debts higher, inflation worse, the naira weaker, and Nigerians poorer?

Calling chaos courage doesn’t make it reform. And invoking Obi won’t save Tinubu from being judged by the consequences of his own decisions.

Did he equally say after subsidy is gone he will go borrow the country to its fouth generation to pay..what kind of bra in dey una head

TELL CHATGPT that Obi said he would end the subsidy "on day one", so he had no plans for "sequencing, buffers, alternatives" either, and just wanted a quick process like Tinubu!

If we had dilly-dallied, we'd still be in the middle of the dysfunction right now.
