https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kum_FZnHVbk https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i7djeFsVoJI?si=KlDEXOL8TwtSwTwu The largest floating water slum in the world located in Lagos, Makoko witnessed series of demolished structures near a power line in the Makoko waterfront area. Effects of tear gas fired by police, allegedly deployed by the government to carry out the exercise. While many Nigerians celebrated the holidays, over ten thousand residents of Makoko had their homes forcefully demolished. This destruction not only undermines their sources of income but also leaves many homeless, with families sleeping in boats. Meanwhile, the Lagos State government believes the evacuation was necessary for the safety of Lagosians. https://youtube.com/shorts/kum_FZnHVbk?si=pYfFhDd1dgJwOMBb https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iCbkRtpdjac?si=dH4p2cjE0dOsQGZP https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dxq59jPdyMk?si=doXnndTzBSEnUycj

I was randomly thinking about this place yesterday and a demolition happening, crazy and wild to see that indeed demolition is happening. Nigerian government are zombies, to carry out efforts like this you need to prepare a place for relocation. Give them date to leave and if they don't then do whatever you like. But No they wont. |

I knew it. That it will eventually come to this. Lagos is no more encouraging slums. But government needs to do more about the wastage on our roads. Especially at Alimosho area. It's such an eye sore. |
