Jide Sanwo-olu Is Destroying Apc's Chances Of Winning Lagos In 2027 by clearcrystal(op): 6:35pm On Jan 16
Just thinking aloud

If you take a critical look at the antecedents of events in Lagos since Tinubu forced the reinstatement of Obasa as Speaker of the HoA, you will know that Sanwo-Olu is cooking something.

It is obvious he wants Obasa out, as there has been a consistent power tussle between him and Obasa, largely because Obasa has little or no regard for the governor. Bringing back Obasa is a low blow, which Sanwo-Olu is clearly not happy about, and it is beginning to look like the case of “bi adiye da mi loogun nu, ma fo leyin” (If fowl scatter my medicine, I go break im eggs).

He knows quite well that APC lost Lagos in the last general election, but all the recent events happening in Lagos show that Sanwo-Olu cares less about who wins Lagos in the next elections.

1. In late 2025, the Lagos State Government, through the Lagos State Building Control Agency (LASBCA), demolished numerous houses and shops in the Amikanle/Agbado Oke-Odo area under high-tension power lines to enforce public safety, leading to homelessness and loss of livelihoods for many residents

2.Costain Market Demolition (October 2025)

The Lagos government demolished sections of the popular Costain Market, a major commercial hub for traders.
Dozens of traders were displaced and property/goods worth millions of naira were destroyed.
Traders expressed strong distress over losses and displacement.

3. Buildings on Festac 6th Avenue
Over 15 buildings along 6th Avenue in Festac Town were torn down during enforcement actions.
Traders and shop owners saw their businesses destroyed.
The state claimed enforcement of planning laws, though there was public confusion and backlash.
The government later stated it was not involved, although media reports linked the demolition to enforcement actions.

4. Trade Fair Complex Demolitions (September–October 2025)

Multi-billion-naira shops and warehouses — especially structures used by traders (including those run by ASPAMDA and other associations) at the Lagos International Trade Fair Complex in Ojo.
State authorities claimed the structures were built without statutory approvals or violated physical planning regulations.
Traders protested the demolitions, fearing loss of livelihoods and inadequate notice; some unions and ethnic organisations publicly criticised the operation.
Officials insisted the action was technical enforcement, not ethnically or politically motivated.

5.Ilaje Otumara & Baba Ijora Demolitions

A large-scale demolition exercise in communities on Lagos Mainland, led by the Lagos State Building Control Agency (LASBCA), demolished homes and structures.
Thousands were reportedly rendered homeless amid forced evictions.
Reports alleged heavy-handed actions by officials and security agents.

5. Otumara Community Church & Shops

As part of the same demolition campaign in Otumara, a 48-year-old church building and nearby shops were also levelled to the ground.
Residents and worshippers expressed sorrow and accused authorities of insensitivity.

In all of these developments, the Lagos State Government has been unusually silent and seemingly unbothered by the unfolding realities across the state.

Beyond the demolitions and displacement of residents and businesses, basic environmental management appears to have deteriorated significantly. Almost every major road in Lagos is now lined with heaps of refuse, creating an eyesore and posing serious public-health and environmental risks.

What is most troubling is the absence of a sustainable plan to address waste management and urban sanitation.

He isn’t destroying any chances.
The reality is that Tinubu has a strong grip in Lagos politics.
He has a way of manipulating elections in Lagos.
With or without votes, he will successfully plant his stooge.

Agbadorians doing what they know how to do best. Passing the buck and blaming everyone else but Tinubu. None of these demolitions are being carried out without Tinubu and the Lagos GAC approval and permission. Did Tinubu not have a public spat with Sanwo-olu because he accused the governor of allocating the setbacks along the stretch of the Lagos coastal road? He followed up on that by moving the office of the surveyor-general of the federation to the presidency for closer monitoring. Why would one still be so hell-bent on amassing real estate even at an advanced age?

All the gibberish you wrote here are nothing but rants of tribal jingoists who are well aware that end has come to their numerous criminal activities plus the awareness of the fact that their days are numbered in Lagos.

Imagine your erroneous claim that APC lost the 2023 election in Lagos.
Your blatant mass rigging and thousands of illegal 'transfer' of units from the SE to Lagos have been well documented.
Nemesis awaits all of you in ,2027 and thereafter.
Instead of focusing on events back home in your villages you engage yourselves on fruitless pursuits that will further erode whatever little chances of survival left for you.

The problem you and your people have is that you guys harbor so much disdain for Igbo people that did you guys no wrong.

What concerns Igbos with this topic?

Did you bother to check the history of this very op that started this thread?

He is your fellow Yoruba and a staunch supporter of Tinubu and APC. Go through his threads and topics of some years back.

God will continue to protect and elevate the Igbos beyond you guys unjust dislike and evil plots against them.

If they survived the civil war and rose from ashes to become a formidable people they are today, what makes you think they won't survive Lagos state, Tinubu and APC shenanigans?

Who God has blessed, no man can curse, so just be careful with life to avoid using your own hand to attract negative forces into your life and that of your unborn generation.

Isn't it rather funny that your self fell guilty of the very thing you accused me of ?

As for hatred for Ibos, mention any of the Yoruba, Hausa, Fulani, Ijaw, Benin, Tiv, Urhobo, that does not hate the Ibo. None. Why ?
Ask yourself.

speak for yourself. Benin , Riv , Urhobo , Hausa does not hate the igbos. Don't rope any other person in. Speak for yourself alone. You think everyone is doing that igbo hatred with you ? The table has been turned on you and everyone is seeing you for what you truly are. Chameleon. My South south neighbours here on nairaland don't even hide it anymore. They are voicing it out here on daily basis .

Lagos politics is being controlled by only two forces, 1. PBAT 2. GAC whoever these two forces endorse is who become the Gov, even for a Gov. seeking second term.

If Tinubu doesn’t manipulate Lagos elections, would Peter Obi’s daughter or one of Atiku’s uncountable sons become Lagos governor?
