What Year, How Or What Made You Start Supporting Your Present Clubsides? by Kalulu44(op): 6:51pm On Jan 16
Good evening ladies and gentlemen.
I know more than 90% of us here are Super Eagles fans. But when it comes to clubsides either at home or abroad, we all have our preferences.
So I will like us to come tell us what year, how you started or what made you start supporting your present beloved club.
.
MY STORY.
It still feel like ystday to me how I started supporting and following Manchester United club of England.
It all started in the early 90s. My late Mum, (may God continue to rest her soul) used to be a second hand clothes popularly called (okrika) trader. Most of the bail of clothes she used to buy from cotonou comes from UK and 50% of them are football clubs jerseys.
Back then me and my younger sibling love football and my mum don't hesitate to keep the best of the jerseys for us her children.
.
The newly changed England division 1 to English premier league was first won by Man United in May 1993. By the end of that year, their jerseys has flooded the okrika markets coming to Nigeria. On one of the bail my mum opened, it was Man United jerseys all thru.
Including t.shirts with inscription like "Ryan Giggs, king of the wing" Bryan Robson lifting the trophy as captain. "King Eric Cantona" and so on. My mum selected the best of them and gave it to me and my younger brother.
That was how my likeness and later love for Man United started.
My most happiest day was when we won the treble in 1999. I was 19 then and just out of secondary school. I rmbr drinking 4 bottles of coca cola bought by some Alaba guys who were Man United fans, when we won that memorable ucl final against Bayern Munich. I haven't started drinking beer then which they bought over 10 crates. I just stick to soft drinks and didn't know when I drank 4 bottles. Awoof no good sha hahaha.
.
Ever since then, it has been Man United for me till now. I have enjoyed so many highs supporting United, so I can't run from them now they're down. If they like let them relegate, I will be with them till they come back.
My Slogan remains:
Man United
Kids
Wife
Relatives in that order.
.
I will love to hear your own story how you started supporting your present clubside.
Fergie001, Sonnobax, Angelfrost, Namaster, and co come and share yours to us.

I used to support AC Milan until José Mourinho's second season in England, that should be around 2005.

I started supporting Chelsea out of envy and jealousy. The team was so formidable that to get a draw from them is like a miracle. They always win every match with their young players like Glen Johnson, Joe Cole, Frank Lampard, DD, Duff, Robben, John Terry etc.

I applied "if you can't beat them, you join them" mechanism, that's when I stated having peace of mind.

I’ve been a Barcelona fan since 2003 because of Ronaldinho

The guy wowed me in the 2002 world cup and I became obsessed with him.

Then, those “ best of this and that player” CDs were the reigning thing then and I was always buying best of Ronaldinho.

From the yellow shirts of Brazil, I started seeing him in red and blue shirts, then I met Edgar, Kluivert, Puyol, Marquez, Van Bronckhorst, Xavi and later Eto’o, Iniesta, Deco, Belletti, Gudjohnsen and many others

It was tough seeing him leave in 2008 and I was tempted to follow him to Milan but then Messi and Guardiola ensured that didn’t happen

Previously, I had a liking for Real Madrid and Man United. Real Madrid because of the galacticos - Zidane, Ronaldo R9, Figo, Carlos etc. ManU because of Beckham only. I remember watching the UCL match between both sides before Beckham made the switch, then I couldn't choose whom to support.

Nevertheless, in 2004/05 season, I started liking Benitez as a coach. Following the underdog triumphs of Liverpool over Bayern and several other big teams, the Steven Gerald 's drive in the midfield I had no other reason than to support them in the UCL final against Milan at Istanbul. Three goals down in the first half was a reality check but the remontadad that followed in the second half cemented my love for Liverpool.

YNWA!

Honourable mention, I support Enugu Rangers! In a match between Rangers and Liverpool, I will stand by Rangers irrespective of the result. grin

For me it has always been real Madrid, since when I was in junior secondary school, I have always loved football but never got the opportunity to see these premier league and champions league games on TV, except super eagles matches, so most times it is also highlights on local Tv stations I watch, but there was something about Madrid that just drew me to it, it wasn’t any player in particular it was just a club that represented class, a club that was in a league of its own, something that represented elite, and from that moment it has always been Real Madrid

This was the match that officially confirmed my love for Chelsea. The first match I watched as a Chelsea fan. A tough one, given the fact that Assnal first scored so you can imagine the great happiness I felt while watching Chelsea coming back from behind to win the cup.
I remeber Emmanuel eboue blasting the head of John Terry with his boot and sending him into concussion.
Oh my God that Robben's cross that lead to Drogba nodding the winning was so slick and awesome.
I bleed Chelsea cos my blood is blue
My first daughter's name is definitely going to be "Chelsea".
If I die, it'll be written on my will that I should be buried with a Chelsea muffler round my neck
BLUE IS THE COLOR...
KTBFFH
We will rise again soon
