Morocco takes over CAF and African football See the awards CAF gave to Morocco Achraf Hakimi 🇲🇦 – Player of the Year Ghizlane Chebbak 🇲🇦 – Women’s Player of the Year Yassine Bounou 🇲🇦 – Goalkeeper of the Year Othmane Maamma 🇲🇦 – Young Player of the Year Doha El Madani 🇲🇦 – Women’s Young Player of the Year Sanaâ Mossy 🇲🇦 – Women’s Interclub Player of the Year Lamia Boumehdi 🇲🇦 – Women’s Coach of the Year AS FAR 🇲🇦 – Women’s Club of the Year Morocco U-20 🇲🇦 – Men’s National Team of the Year At this point, CAF should stop pretending and just rename itself MAROCCAF. Every major award, one direction. No balance. No shame. No explanation. Just Morocco, Morocco, Morocco — as if the rest of Africa didn’t play football this year. The only thing left now is for CAF to try and hand Morocco the AFCON trophy on Sunday, and that would be the final insult. African football must not be reduced to a one-country project. Let it be clear: we are watching. The final between Morocco 🇲🇦 and Senegal 🇸🇳 must be FAIR — no refereeing gymnastics, no backstage manipulation, no “host advantage” drama. African football deserves integrity, not favoritism. CAF must choose: credibility or complete disgrace. the only deserving Award is the men's under 20 because they won the world cup and Hakimi who won Champions league. |

Now, do you understand why that Ghanian referee was hostile towards super eagles against the Moroccan team? I suspect we will see the same treatment against Senegal in the final match. |

I have said it already - AFCON final on Sunday is mere formality. |

whirlwind7:Was it the Ghana referee that stops us from it attacking or scoring our penalties? |

You failed to mention even hosting of almost all major African tournaments |

Morocco are currently setting the pace for African football, no doubt. But CAF must ensure that dominance never looks like preference, because perception can be as powerful as reality in football governance. |

If Senegal can just find one way or the other to win this one, I will start supporting them in every AFCON ![]() |

No one is denying Morocco’s progress. Hakimi and the U-20 team deserved recognition. But ignoring top-class performances from Nigerian players like Victor Osimhen, Asisat Oshoala, and Chiamaka Nnadozie raises concerns. CAF must ensure fairness, balance, and transparency in its awards process. |
| Re: Morocco Takes Over CAF And African Football by sholikay(m): 1:35pm On Jan 18 |
Kalulu44:but the referee was hostile to the players of super eagles, which can demoralize them from attacking or playing effectively, because of the fear of giving them cards... |
| Re: Morocco Takes Over CAF And African Football by Gbadugbakun(m): 1:35pm On Jan 18 |
femi4:Lagos GDP alone is higher than the entire Morocco. Yet you're seeing Morocco as a wealthy nation. Just imagine how Nigeria would have been if we didn't have criminals and looters as our leaders. We would have ruled Africa. |

Hmmm. This is why Africa will still remain where it is |

Morocco is a decent side, #1 ranked in Africa, & they deserve to be in the final. Same with Senegal that is #2. #1 vs #2 is a worthy final. I only hope the referee in the Final will do a good job & not spoil the match with soft yellow cards / red card. |

Our future as a country in football is ruined and at a dead end because we don’t have a president currently so no leadership in any sector of the country to steer the country in the right direction. The only thing Nigeria needs is a free and fair elections or else we would continue seeing mandate thieves like Emilokan and would never see progress even in the next 400 years, that’s if Nigeria would still be together by then which I doubt |

If na you invest that kind money way Morocco invest for sports, you go let another team come collect the trophy for your house |
| Re: Morocco Takes Over CAF And African Football by lolexzy: 1:40pm On Jan 18 |
It's the Nigerian team that I blame for not eliminating them in the Semi-final match |

Well well well deserved! They have a very solid team, and more so, they are enjoying the benefits of years of good governance and investment in infrastructure. Another country to look out for is Senegal. Those guys are doing really well in the area of human and infrastructural development. Now that they have started oil and gas exploration, expect them to be among the first 5 African economies within the next decade. I think we complain too much as a country. Too much whining and expecting that we deserve everything without working for it. A game that we had just 2 shots on target! Other countries are quietly developing, we are here forming giant of Africa. Make una dey try travel oooooo. Just leave Nigeria once once and explore other countries.

Who was Morocco about 15-20yrs ago when Nigeria was in the limelight wining AFCON, U-17 WC, CAF champions Leagues, and Olympic medals . Our stadium were world class in those from ABJ National stadium, Surulere, PH, Calabar, Kano, Cathedral in Enugu , Liberty stadium Ibadan (the first in Africa), we hosted all African games (COJA), AFCON 2000, U-17, U-20 WC , Yaradua and the then NFF also bid for the 2010 WC , GEJ was even planning to host the FIFA women WC not until APC came in and took us backwards to the extent that the likes of Morocco is now bullying Nigeria . Take it or leave it Nigeria has retrogress and if it's not that we are sick T!nubu and anything APC should never be allowed to lead us again . And I can boldly say it anywhere PDP government is the best we ever had we are just like the Libyans who thought that there's an El Dorado after Gadafi just to see the reality that it's hell that awaits them ![]() |

Morocco has intentionally invested heavily in sports over the last years. Especially in football. From the days of "Maroc 88" till today, they have always upgraded. World Cup standards. The country is basically another European country in Africa in terms if standards... They worked hard for it. They invested heavily to achieve this and now they are reaping the fruits of their labour. Don't envy them. Upgrade yourself as a country and beat them. That's the way to go. We have this tendency in Nigeria to act like we are jealous and want to pull down others. It is wrong. The Morrocans have been bidding for the world cup for eons. They have the stadiums, the transportation system, the quality hotels and Co. Check the standards they set at AFCON. Nigeria will struggle to reach that. Emulate them, Don't despise them.for that.. |

Play your game well, even the ref and the whole of CAF can't stop you. Today, I am rooting for Senegal. Mane, Ynwa . |

They’ve constantly been rescuing caf in most major competitions. So caf is just trying to compensate them for all their efforts. ![]() |

robosky02:Agreed some favoritism is in play but Hakimi and the U20 guys deserves the Awards. That said, the Morrocan Team that defeated the Super Eagles are a good Team no doubt and all good Team can be beaten by any other good Team without any help from the Officials. The Eagles were psychologically beaten in that match up with needless and fraudulent foul calls by that Charlie. Nevertheless, attention is on Morroco presently because they have spent money to upgrade their facilities unlike the rest of the African continent. Can you imagine that it is only the Goodswill Akpabio stadium that can host a FIFA grade Football Match in Nigeria while Morroco boast of at least 4 or even more? People naturally move towards wealth and opulence, that's why CAF seems to be all over them presently. That phase will pass too. |

Are you sure Morocco is not blackmailing CAF? What is left is for CAF to cancel the final match and hand over the cup to Morocco |
