‘I'm Still The Governor’, Fubara. Calls Impeachment letter "Love Letter." by chatinent(op):
‘I’m still the governor’, Fubara breaks silence on impeachment proceedings

Rivers State governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has described the notice of impeachment against him and his deputy, Prof Ngozi Odu, by the state House of Assembly as a ‘love letter’.

Fubara, who was speaking as a Special Guest at the finals of the 2026 Port Harcourt Polo Tournament held in the state capital on Saturday, however, pledged not to support, directly or indirectly, any action capable of undermining peace and safety in the state.

The governor, who for the first time spoke about the impeachment saga, stated that the protection of lives and property remains the foremost responsibility of his administration.

Daily Trust recalls that the Rivers State House of Assembly had last Thursday written to the State Chief Judge asking him to constitute a seven-man panel to investigate alleged gross misconduct against Governor Fubara and deputy.

Fubara also stated that he remains the governor of Rivers State and he is committed to delivering on the promises made to the people of Rivers State.

He expressed satisfaction that the week-long 2026 Port Harcourt Polo Tournament was conducted without any incident, describing the peaceful atmosphere as clear evidence that Rivers State is safe for residents, visitors and investors.

He also expressed disappointment over the recurring political crisis in the state, lamenting that they usually coincided with the annual polo tournament over the past three years.

He said, “It is really unfortunate that each time you are having your tournament, there is always one problem. In 2024, you came to me and made some promises, but that January was hell. In 2025, you didn’t bother to come to me. This 2026, which I thought would be the finest, just landed me a love letter,”

“What is important is that I am still the Governor of Rivers State, and we will continue to do what we have promised the Rivers people,” he said.

I am happy that you had your tournament for one week, and the president of the Port Harcourt Polo Club told me there was no incident. It shows that we are working and that Rivers State is safe. That is the basic responsibility of government.” Governor Fubara stated

He, however, assured that despite the political challenges, his administration would continue to discharge its responsibilities and support all individuals and groups genuinely committed to the progress of Rivers State.

He also promised that the state government would work towards upgrading the status of the Port Harcourt Polo Club, which is reputed to have one of the best natural grass polo pitches in the country.

He encouraged guests and polo players, including foreign participants, to enjoy the serenity of Port Harcourt and to help counter negative narratives about the state by projecting positive and accurate information.

Dignitaries at the final match included the Argentine Ambassador to Nigeria, as well as polo players from across the country, with teams from India and Argentina taking part in the week-long tournament.

The political quagmire in Rivers is still boiling. Which of the mice will "bell" the cat?

What will be the fate of Wike?
What will be of Fubara?
Why is the APC silent?
What of those Wike stepped on to become the PDAPC middle man without ever thinking Fubara would join the APC?

Anarchy looms..”

The APC is waiting for the president's decision to take a stand. Till thenn the impeachment continues.
But I think the governor will not be impeached
A political solution will end it, if the president supports his minister of fct , to avoid impeachment they may tell Fubara not to seek for second tenure

This guy too the talk, seem patience is not his virtue.
He's holding on because Tinubu is holding Wike on a tight leash. He ran to France as soon as things started going South. He has gotten some reprieve now, it's not up to a week, and he has started throwing shades again.

Well na their business

Chaii, So Wike with his confused House Of Assembly zombies wrote the amiable Governor Fubara a lovely letter instead of an impeachment letter.
That word Madam introduced in that letter rubbishes that letter. It shows the House of Assembly members are a joke and don't understand official and protocol matters in government.

Little wonder Yarimo wants to kil himself because the Assembly members have muddled up the impeachment process with that love letter.

I heard they're looking to break away from Nigeria. That's why they love fighting every day. Does it have to be about Rivers State every day? Some people enjoy fights and drama. Haba. Just when everything is getting calm, Fubara started to open his open mouth again.

No, he is holding on because the last time he dealt ruthlessly with the coward Wike, the presidency came to Wike's rescue.
