.....Atiku, northerners Mr Okechukwu said Mr Abubakar did not have the interest and unity of Nigeria at heart if he decided to contest against the turn of the south. A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Enugu State, Osita Okechukwu, has urged Nigerians, especially northern politicians, to allow President Bola Tinubu to finish his second term. Mr Okechukwu, a former director-general of the Voice of Nigeria (VON), made the call during the flagging off of the APC e-registration at Eke Ward in the Udi Local Government Area of Enugu State on Saturday. He noted that former Vice President Atiku Abubakar would be presumed the winner of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) primaries and urged him to adhere to the Nigerian presidency’s zoning and rotational formula. Speaking after his registration, the party chieftain endorsed Mr Tinubu for a second term, calling on Mr Abubakar to allow him to complete his second tenure before power rotated to the north. “By the time Tinubu finishes in 2031, any southerner who is coming for president, we will not allow the person because it will be the turn of the north,” he said. Mr Okechukwu said Mr Abubakar did not have the interest and unity of Nigeria at heart if he decided to contest against the turn of the south. He explained that Mr Abubakar benefited from the same rotation in 1999, when he became the vice president under President Olusegun Obasanjo. “If not for good faith, restraint, and self-censorship, Alhaji Abubakar Rimi, Umaru Shinkafi, Adamu Ciroma, and Bukola Saraki were all qualified by any standard but conceded power to the south. “This was how Abubakar became vice president under Obasanjo,” he said. He disclosed that the origin of rotation began in Switzerland in 1848, and it was based on the principle that individuals should place the unity of their country first, with equity and a sense of belonging for every group. “Other countries practiced it in one variant or the other, but for us, after the military coup and the long reign of the military regime in Nigeria, some Nigerian patriots came together. “Their conclusion was that the only place to shift power was the South, and also to please Abiola and his followers, was to do a rotation convention whereby it would be the turn of the South, after which the north takes over. “And that was exactly what happened because from 1999 to 2007, the South finished and handed over to a northerner,” he said. He recalled that in 2003, Mr Abubakar breached the same zoning arrangement that brought the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) into crisis, killing the party. “So to sustain economic reforms of Tinubu, Nigeria’s democracy, and the peace of the country, the south under Tinubu should be allowed to complete their eight years in power,” he stressed. Mr Okechukwu said the economy was bouncing back, expressing optimism that Nigerians would see more gains from the reform in Tinubu’s second term https://gazettengr.com/2027-respect-power-rotation-let-tinubu-finish-second-term-apc-chieftain-tells-atiku-northerners/ |

Thunder 🔥💥⚡ Mazi Osita Okechukwu there Did Tinubu and his allies respect power rotation by not allowing Goodluck Jonathan to complete his second term? The reality is that, after the hardship Nigerians have endured under the Tinubu regime, concerns about North South power rotation have become irrelevant. Nigerians are determined to ensure that Tinubu does not remain in office a single day beyond May 28, 2027. |

Tell Tinubu to immediately step aside and support Peter Obi. He usurped the turn of the Southeast. If it's the turn of the South, it's the turn of the Southeast, not the Southwest. |

Ofunaofu:Bro, aren't you ever ashamed of rushing to speak before thinking to then appear unintelligent, ignorant and uninformed? Was it the legitimate turn of the South GEJ was using, as is the case with PBAT, that others were dishonorably trying to bully him out of ? Or was it that it was GEJ who was using the turn of the North, after the unfortunate death of Yar Adua, only for him to then dishonorably decide to run for another term still on the turn of the North, in 2015, after being in power for five years already? Another term that would have made it Nine years in power for GEJ, since he has been in power five years by the time of the 2015 election. It is well known many Northerners supported GEJ to remain in power via the 2011 elections against the wishes of Northern hawks who insisted he must not run They did that so that GEJ could then honourably leave in 2015 and hand power back to the North that lost her turn because of the death of Yar Adua. Five years GEJ had should be more than enough for a reasonable person who finds himself in a position he would never have been in and understand how the North do not play with their turn in power yet they chilled for five years. That was when many said enough is enough of GEJ's insistence on running in 2015 when he had graciously been accorded five years of a rotational period the North should have been in power !!! GEJ is who Yorubas deem " a la se ju, a la se té. A pisstaker. That you now seek to revise recent history to portray him a victim of the "evil machinations" of Tinubu etal speaks volumes about you lot. Tinubu saved GEJ and I won't spell out how since you clearly don't have the intellect to grasp and work logically with reality. Fact that GEJ and PEJ are cool with Tinubu today, while you lot say otherwise just shows the victimhood troublemaking you lot have historically been fond of gaslighting others with. |

Bobloco:I didn't finish reading the junk because I know it full of nonsense. We should allow tinibu to finish his tenure even when its obvious that, allowing him to finish his tenure will wreck the country more and render the citizens useless? |

Streetinvestor2:If Obi becomes candidate, Tinubu would have selected ministers for 2027 before campaign begins. Obi can't get combine votes of 500k in North East and North West while Tinubu will be getting up to 5m votes there. So how will he catch up? |

WizardOfNG:You wrote plenty, but said very little of substance. Let’s simplify the history you’re trying to bend. First, Nigeria’s Constitution, not gentleman’s rotation agreements is the supreme law. Jonathan became president constitutionally after Yar’Adua’s death and won a fresh, nationwide mandate in 2011. That mandate was not borrowed from the North, leased from anyone, or subject to later cancellation. Once elected, his term belonged to Nigerians, not to regional power brokers. Second, the claim that GEJ owed the North an exit in 2015 is pure political blackmail, not principle. If rotation were sacred, why did the North contest and lose against him in 2011? Have you suddenly forget the infamous statement 'the dogs and baboon will be socked in blood'. You can’t accept an election when you win and suddenly discover rotation only when you lose. Third, the irony is loud, the same people who insist Jonathan “overstayed” after one full elected term are silent about Tinubu, whose mandate has produced historic hardship and division, yet now want 'it's the turn of the south treated as holy writ. Rotation is only important when it protects power not when it serves Nigerians Fourth, invoking Yoruba proverbs and name-calling doesn’t change facts. Jonathan conceded defeat peacefully in 2015, saving Nigeria’s democracy. That single act earned him global respect something propaganda can’t erase. Finally, Nigerians are not revising history; they are living with the consequences of today’s governance. And in 2027, votes will not be cast to return 'it is the turn of the south,' but to end failure. |

destinychildolu:Since u believe aboki and malam don't have sense. They will vote Tinubu because he has been Yoruba president for 3 yrs now.I guess they have been stupid in asking for what Tinubu has done for the north in the last 3 yrs like the SS and SE have all been looking for it.A government that has been about Yoruba and lagos in appointment and infrastructures. When they talk you say it was what Buhari did too Don't worry about those cashing out.You see the northern youths I know are explosive waiting to happen if they reject u.They no dey fear your military or police when they come out for action. Rigging is only possible when they accept u.If you have witnessed riots live in the North u go understand. |

Ofunaofu:What are you saying? After Obasanjo it was supposed to be north until 2015 if Yar'Adua hadn't died? It was honorable for north to contest in 2011 because it was still their turn but not honorable for Jonathan to recontest in 2015 because north already lost 6 years of their turn. It was only sensible of Tinubu and Buhari to work together to save the rotational something or north can decide to do 50 years if Buhari had gotten there all by himself. I wouldn't expect you to understand. |
