Good day People. I had to bring this after reading a lot from members on the Mercedes Benz thread. I believe this thread should and will help people that want to acquire low end Mercedes Benz cars that will be daily drivers and exceptionally budget friendly. The cars in Question and their years. 2001-2005 c class 180 kompressor 2001-2005 c class 200 kompressor 2001-2005 C240 As you all can see it's basically a C Klasse thread. After a lot of research online it has been proven that these above variants have minimal issues and are basically NON-GUZZLERS of fuel. It's also a known fact that these cars share basically the same parts (linkages, bushings, etc etc). The main question is this ..if someone needs a daily driver car that can even undertake long distance travels without issues(if maintained) which will it be? Thank You. Incase u dont know, now u do. They are perfect german machines back axle.sweet if u go for manual if u be drifter, however my peoblem with old cars are most times the engine parts are worn out and tired. Parts like cylinder walls, belts, water pumps, bushings, shocks,if not abused gear. They are strong and rugged, but why i ont buy anybenz is,once u source for the parts and omo igbo hears the word BENZ. Even if na 190,so far say na marcadis...hahahaha.dem go chop u taya. If headlights apair normally is 20k. Ladipo boys go sel am to u 80k. Since na benz esnbrutality: |

The issue is that if the car is acquired based on recommendations on this thread. The car will be taken to MB certified engineers and it will be shipped fully restored. The car will come from Germany. All parts that need change will be taken care of. The main thing is the use down here. Of the three models listed which is best suited for use here. Thank you. 2cribz: |

What are the fuel consumption and ruggedity of transmission. The w204 though common has a lot of locally used and abandoned ones. The main idea is to have a Benz that consumes relatively low fuel as a daily driver and traveller, but also has cheap parts . The guy no send BUG man status. It's just functionality. Kewtt: |

Omo parts of that car cost na . Has Balance shaft issues and very unreliable if I must say. Is the 2001-2005 c class of the w203 series not low on fuel consumption? PAO429: |

I sincerely do hope that people that use these cars listed above can lend a voice to this thread. The kompressor seems the best choice as the differential in horsepower between the c200 and C240 is just 7hp. So it's practicality and comfort. Not over luxury and problems. |

Classic is the style .. Especially neat classic. Saw a review about the c200 for 2005. Someone reached out and told me that it has to be from Germany, because they have a TUV/MOT that requires all cars to be roadworthy before entering service. The W204 has a lame interior and parts are very brittle. W203 with OLD SCHOOL engineering is still bae. Anyway thanks for your input. 2cribz: |

This is going to be a very interesting thread and I am going to contribute my quota to it. I am arguing for the c230 kompressor. I have never owned any car but I have been privileged to drive some. The c230k happens to be one of the modern classic Mercedes Benz cars I still admire. 1. The 1.8l four cylinder matted to the 5 speed gear still drives better than some modern models. 2. It is fuel efficient in its class and the supercharger provides a faster acceleration than even the 2.5v6 counterpart. Only the 3.2l v6 copy is faster. 3. The facelifted interior it comes with is sturdy and good looking. If you get a good and non abused copy, you will love it. Ask those guys in the north about it. I even have a picture of a clean one with over 300k miles. #passing the microphone to my bosses in the house. |

esnbrutality:C240! I prefer the V 6 engine and that's a rugged engine then followed by C180 that's a good engine red top .. it doesn't guzzle fuel but it's not a speed star |

My guy in Germany said the 2004 bmw 325i is actually a better pick, factoring all the required maintenance. He said that apart from replacement of plastic parts after like 100k miles that the suspension and E46 2.5l engine is bulletproof and better than the c240 of that same year. Any ideas? ariesbull: |

| Re: Best Mercedes Benz For Daily Driving by esnbrutality(op): 10:25am On Feb 01 |
I do understand...but the parts that actually need changing in the engine bay are Rubber hoses (based on depreciation) Radiator ( because the housing is plastic) Thermostat ( preventive maintenance) Expansion tank ( depreciation) Water pump is not electric ![]() All the above parts are basically because of the cooling system of the engine. In terms of reliability, the E46 is regarded as the best engine manufactured by BMW as it's a very robust build with a very solid transmission. Imagine changing the above parts and using the car for 100k miles before changing them again. For me it's worth it. Interms for sourcing for parts..my plug is very direct and they use reputable online platforms or even BMW scrap yards to get replacement parts easily and cheaply. Not sounding as a Bmw advocate, but in all my research I haven't seen any issue with the engine based on complaints. Everyone agrees it's reliable. Why i asked for your input is because the BENZ is very common (out there) ..but the Bmw is actually rare. Also the C240 engine though robust has some known gremlins ...like electrical wahala and some other issues. Baba...this is my take ...and I do wish you can guide me accordingly. TY ariesbull: |

So for your mind ..I look like someone that will actually appreciate anything from you? Anyway to clarify and make you understand fully. The car is for a cousin...who needs a reliable vehicle for schooling in NIGERIA. As regards TINUBU and all your propaganda, against IGBOs. Shame on you ![]() Peterobiisathie: |
