Tinubu orders suspension of APC e-registration in Kano ahead Yusuf’s defection — Doguwa


A member of the House of Representatives and a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano, Hon. Alhassan Ado Doguwa, has revealed that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has directed that the APC e-registration exercise be put on hold until Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf officially joins the party.


The lawmaker made the claim in a video posted on X by @jrnaib2, in which he stated that the President has already accepted Governor Yusuf into the APC.

He said: “What could you do when Tinubu said he has accepted Abba? What would you do?


“Tinubu has accepted him (into APC), we were going to start APC e-registration in Kano tomorrow, but the President and the APC national leadership has directed that it should be put on hold.”

Although it is unclear when Doguwa made the comments, they come at a time when the APC has embarked on a nationwide registration of its members.


He said the President and the APC leadership want Governor Yusuf to be the first to e-register in Kano.

“If we accept the ‘hunch backed,’ what would he do with me? We could only be patient,” he added.

The comments have drawn varied reactions from social media users, with one @auwal_sls saying that Abba is not ready to join the APC, while another user, @Teemaah88, said Kano State “will lose this election.”


Reports indicate that some close allies of Abba Kabir Yusuf have been calling on the governor and his political mentor, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, to defect to the APC.

Some government officials, including the state Commissioner for Information, Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, have defended the calls, arguing that defection to the APC would be of great advantage to the people of Kano. However, Kwankwaso has vehemently rejected the idea.

He has repeatedly asked the governor to vacate his seat and move to the APC if he so desires.


There have also been reports suggesting that the governor was expected to defect to the APC last Monday, but the move has yet to materialise, as Abba Kabir Yusuf has remained silent on the defection saga

So whenever a single politician defects to ADC, it is instantly celebrated as an earth-shaking Obi tsunami. But when another politician defects to APC, the same people suddenly argue that Tinubu is only interested in governors and politicians, not the electorate. The irony is almost impressive, a lone defection to ADC is treated as proof that the masses have moved en masse, yet a defection to APC is dismissed as meaningless because, they say, one politician does not represent the people. Apparently, one man equals the electorate, only when it suits their narrative otherwise it is not.

The moment I glanced at the thread, I knew you’d be right there, faithfully on duty, venting frustration like it’s a full-time occupation. Your ilk are everywhere, shrieking “paid agent!” at anyone whose opinion dares to stray from the Pitobi script. Yet, somehow, none of you ever notice characters like you permanently camped under Tinubu’s posts, typing industrial quantities of nonsense with monk-like dedication.

A newspaper like Thisday publishes a news item, a Nairalander creates a thread about it and the moderator pushes it to frontpage and then you have the temerity to call it fake news.
