runningriot:My brother, we can go on and on on this matter but note one thing is everybody are fighting for freedom from dominance, and subject should take his chance when dominance is weak. If we go back to history, Oyo was great empire no doubt, that control not only present SW but as far as Dahome in present Benin Republic, Togo. But since royal house has lost the control to Government they've been curtailed. Especially Alaafin Oyo, not only now since Awolowo time when they appointment Ooni Aderemi as Governor in SW instead of Alafin while (Sultan) mentained his North leadership. But the truth is leadership is earned and maintain, if not no permanent champion and history alone is not enough to earn you power but good diplomacy, alignment with power brokers, your charisma, achievement etc. Even the Oyo we talk about, some past kings earn it by organised and stand to defend the Yoruba empire, if not Ife should be the permanent leader in Yoruba land but it lost it to Oyo at the time. I think this time around Oyo is loosing it to Ibadan, change is only constant in life |

If the Canadian japa alafin is not ready to support peace and unity in yoruba land, he should be deposed and sent back to Canada with impromptu alacraity |

runningriot:On power tusle, it did not start now and it can not end. Every tribe has there own. I've heard about fights between Ogoja and Yala in cross river state? Kano Emirates, between Yala and an Ebonyi town (i forget the name). Not all northern emirs agree with Sultan leadership if not Federal power. Even in history, what always cause fights between two kings is power tusle. |

Lanre1st:Bro, all the afformentioned Royal Supremacy are not obvious and pronounced like the one in Yoruba land they are not as frequent and glearing like the one in the O states. Kano referential point was even totally out of context because that of Kano is a litigation issue of whom is the true emir but the whole case with Yorubas is that all of them are legitimate Kings who are fighting for the supremacy over another. |

If not for legacy and posterity sake, all these Oba things no longer matters. Many of them were just an opportunists, they don't really add any value to their people. Aside from the so called history, culture, wearing beards, grabbing people's land, marrying virtually all the beautiful ladies in the community and walking majestically up and down in the community and being hailed, we don't see much of their positive effects any longer unlike in those days. |

This Alaafin is causing too much trouble and he was falsely placed on the throne after he has spent many years in Canada. He should be dethroned and sent back to Canada. |

You said that the empire and dominance is in the past, that they should forget it. Then you said they should preserve the value and the culture. Culture and value on what basis, Is it not based on the history and the past?. |

IF COUNCILS OF OBAS CHAIRMANSHIP IS BEING ROTATED IN OYO, WHAT IS STOPPING THE SAME BEING DONE IN OSUN. WHY SHOULD OONI BE MADE PERMANENT CHAIRMAN OF OBAS IN OSUN TOO. WITH WHAT I HAVE DISCOVERED, IT IS THE GOVERNMENT THAT IS CAUSING PERPETUAL CONFLICT AMONG THESE TRADITIONAL RULERS. THEY SHOULD HAVE ALLOWED EACH AND EVERYONE OF THEM TO OVERSEA THEIR TOWNS AND VILLAGES ALONE WITHOUT NEEDLESSLY APPOINTING CHAIRMANSHIP OR CHAIRMANSHIP AMONG THEM |

Maybe u can also Google hierarchy of King in Yoruba land according to history, or probably the first king in Yoruba land according to history, the search result will give u a tip about it... but elders with good knowledge of history will give u full details, starting from the days of oduduwa

|

The debate over Yoruba royal supremacy, Ade Aare crown, and the authority of traditional rulers has resurfaced and this time, the revelations are explosive. In this exclusive interview, Oba Adeyinka Adesina Obawale Arolu I, the Oluoje of Ojenpetu in Ife North LGA, explains why only the Ooni of Ife can legitimately wear the Ade Aare crown. He traces how the Alaafin of Oyo, Olubadan of Ibadan, and other Yoruba Obas sourced their crowns from Ile-Ife, the ancestral home of the Yoruba people. Kabiyesi also shares his personal journey, why he left Kogi State with his people to return to Ile-Ife, the challenges he faced, and the controversies involving the Ogunsua of Modakeke, the Alaafin, and ongoing Ooni supremacy debates. This conversation reopens deep questions about Yoruba history, kingship, Oduduwa heritage, and traditional authority. Should Yoruba traditional leadership recognize Ile-Ife as the original source of all crowns? Or is this history being politicized? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZYnn8fum0ds?si=latiBkAyfgLk1gZi |

It is true that there's no more Oyo Empire but Alaafin is still the King of Oyo descended Yorubas just as the Alake is the king of all Egba Ake people and as Olowu is still the king of Owu despite the old Owu being a kingdom that is no more. In hierarchy Because Alaafin is the king of the Oyo Clan and one from the Original 16 Ife Princes kingdoms he is higher than Olubadan but in tems of Political and Military power the Olubadan is more important as the ruler of Ibadan Olubadan rules Ibadan people but the Rulers of Ibadan are of Oyo Ancestry mainly and so indirect subjects of Alaafin who is the Clan king of all the ethnic Oyos. Oyos are in Ekiti (Erinmope) Osun (Modakeke,Ede,Gbogan etc), Lagos ( Ifako Ijaiye), Kwara,Ogun, Benin Republic ( Porto Novo) Then Ooni of Ife is the overall father of all the Yoruba Kings including Alaafin |
