Because the president chose there for it. Sherrif is not even claiming any part in the project, so why are you trying to force a false narrative? In all the speeches he has given not once has he mentioned the project. I live in Delta State, in osubi same town sheriff is from. Not one of his aide or PA has associated him to this project, but yet you from far away seem to know the doings of the governor better than the people close to him. It's truly wonderful.

Am happy for this. Years back I was having discussions with investors for a Refinery to be cited around there in Ogidgben, they were sceptical because of youth restiveness and warlord control of the area, that made us to loose a ten billion dollar investment.

Ogidgben is a blessed land but the community will not allow it materialise. I hope they don't kill this great initiative.

Even Trump is looking for investors. This blanket negative comments at every good news is more like PhD syndrome. Do we have the expertise to take on such large project? Do we have $20billion to do it? So all these decades that nothing has been done, of what benefit has it been to have what you do not know how to extract and make useful.

What I worry about is favourable terms and conditions that will benefit the host communities and Nigerians at large.

The Saudis left because they know the funds will be embezzled. Imagine demanding $30m to allow ground breaking activities that will bring development and jobs to your region.

This is why most Nigerian leaders don't take you serious.

I am not sure that you even know that China is sitting on $1.2 Trillion dollars surplus that makes even the western countries to run to China. Canadian PM was there last week and Trump is even begging China to come invest in US.

In what other part of the world do you have to part with as much as 30 million dollars to local warlords and militants before you break ground on a project? Tomorrow this same community will barricade the company( if at all it ever gets built) demanding employment quotas. That's why shell abandoned the Niger Delta.
NDDC is said to have misappropriated over 6 trillion naira. No civil society organisation or activists from the Niger Delta have even bothered to speak out against that theft. Not that I expect them to though.

I think you should look at the mirror and ask yourself how you reason. It's obvious your knowledge of how Nigeria or any nations politics works comes from drunk discussions in poorly constructed beer parlors after a long day of frustration. What constitutional authority or privilege does the state government have in a federal government project? The Lagos calabar costal road passes through so many states, have you seen any of them attached themselves to it? There are federal government owned lands in every state, go to your local government office and request to view one. The federal government doesn't need any permission or involvement of a state government to embark on a federal government project. You best educate yourself on the constitution, and also learn the roles of that every level of public office plays and the limit to their constitutional power.

See Hilda Bachi with her attempt to cook the world's largest pot of jollof rice. The pot collapsed because the Nigerian engineers/welders and fabricators failed to take a number of parameters into account. And that's something as minor as constructing a pot to carry a known quantity of rice.
