Why Didn't Presidency Inform Nigerians That Tinubu Was In France To Attend Birthday Of Chagoury?-Ibe


Paul Ibe, the Special Adviser to fomer Vice President, Atiku Abubakar on Media has taken to his official X account on Monday, January 19, 2026 to state that the presidency should have informed Nigerians that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu attended the birthday ceremony of his bossom friend, Gilbert Chagoury.


Paul Ibe made the statement after it was reported to that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has conferred the honour of Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger, GCON, on Gilbert Chagoury.

According to VANGUARD, the GCON, Nigeria’s second-highest national honour after the Grand Commander of the Order of the Federal Republic (GCFR), was conveyed through an Instrument of Conferment of National Honour.

Reacting, Paul Ibe stated that the day President Bola Ahmed Tinubu conferred the honour on Gilbert Chagoury was the day he celebrated his 80th birthday.
