As an Engineer with over 15 years of experience in building construction, I can tell you things are really messy. I just completed a three bedroom bungalow in Ajah area and it costed about #65M.I couldn't even believe it.
Yesterday, I bought ten tons of iron for #10,300,0006

completing a five bedroom duplex now is about 100 to 120 million depending on the class of furnishing.

Do you know the type of inflation that occurred under Tinubu?

NBS keeps rebasing the calculation to give you a false figure, read the chart below and understand better, except your salary was increased with about 582 percent then sorry, you have not met the value of your salary in Buhari's time... we warned seriously about this man, some people thought we hated him or his tribe, if you supported him then you know you have a hand in what you are going through.
If you think Tinubu is the problem, ask yourself this serious question: will whoever you vote in reverse removal 9f subsidy on fuel and forex ?

If you answer honestly then you will understand why we have inflation.

He is probably turning with disgust at this your ingratitude.

You lot never say the truth and this is part of the reason nobody takes you serious and the land never blesses you.

Under Buhari I purchased a land and sold the other...that is,I bought one land during the Covid 19 period and sold it last year and I bought one,two and half years ago which I want to build on.

Despite earning salary which doesn't last me more than three days,I have been able to completely paid for my building approval which cost me around#1,550,000 here in Abuja.

I know it is very tough for we salary people out there, but if u re-strategise properly,u will overcome this wicked govt. Under Buhari, the poor were getting poorer but in this administration, the middle class are the real culprits...as if there was a plan to plunge us all into the abyss.

However, now is the time to surround yourself with outstanding people who think and invest properly. Have at least two side incomes else this govt will shove u into misery and pains.

Invest and invest and continue to invest and nothing more.

If OBJ could become president and reversed a lot of the damage the military government did, what is Tinubu's excuse?

As a salary earner, I bought a land under Buhari government and started the foundation before Tinubu came into power. Right now, I'm still wondering what's really going on, I have increased in salary but still can't spare any amount for the project.

Right now, almost all my colleagues are thinking of other streams of income to be able to survive.
Have you been able to execute your building project as a salary earner since President Tinubu assume office?
But you all condemned Buhari as worst president

If you really want to know the level of hardship in the country today just make enquiry from online loan app, you will be shocked on how millions of Nigerians are borrowing to survive!
It's terrible situation we find ourselves 🙆

Tinubu has ruined the Nigeria economy. The hyperinflation caused by APC administration.
No salary earner can build a boys quarter let alone standard bedroom flats.
Our duty is to vote him out come 2027 by resisting his rigging and Nigeria will be far better.

I’m not a Tinubu fan at all, but let’s stop lying to ourselves. Buhari didn’t just “mismanage” the economy, he absolutely destroyed it. Eight years of clueless policies, reckless borrowing, killing local businesses with border closures, choking the naira with fake exchange rates, and letting corruption and insecurity run wild. By the time Tinubu came in, the economy was already on life support. Inflation was already insane, the naira was already crashing, debt was already suffocating us, and millions were already sliding into poverty.

So this idea that Tinubu suddenly woke up in May 2023 and ruined Nigeria overnight is pure dishonesty. Most of what people are feeling now is the delayed explosion of Buhari’s disasters finally catching up with the country. That doesn’t make Tinubu innocent. He’s made his own terrible choices, handled reforms badly, and shown very little empathy for ordinary Nigerians. But let’s not pretend he created this mess from scratch.

If we’re serious about accountability, then start with the man who set the house on fire before blaming the one who walked into the burning building. Otherwise we’re just rewriting history and repeating the same mistakes again.

As a salary earner, if you are honest person in Nigeria, you are at a disadvantage because your honesty won't go far. That is how bad the system is in Nigeria and that is why everybody has turn into a leech or a form of parasite on each other. Always looking for how to extort their fellow human beings. Some in trickles, some exorbitantly, some don't even mind if it cost you your life. Even those so called entrepreneurs are not much different. Abuse the system and transfer the hardship on their consumers. They call it survival instinct, but it is a parasitic one.

However, i encourage you to continue on the path of honesty, you will laugh last and that house will be built and completed. You will also have peace of mind.

What percentage of your salary do you spend on rent and other consumables… we most times underestimate how loosely we spend on frivolities! Do you even have a monthly budget? If you earn times 2 of what you currently earn you may still not be able to build because of syndrome called Parkinson syndrome: your expense will always grow to meet your income!

Question is::: Vote him out for WHOhuh? -- Someone worse?? tufiakwa!

Let's chose our words correctly, not just act on the spur of the moment. Ok?

We all know it's not the turn of the northerners for the number 1 position in our nation...(and personally I hope that when it is, 2031, the North will bring up credible candidates such as Aliko Dangote, Gen Marwa rtd, Gen Musa, etc)

But now, who can do better than Baba Tinubu amongst the pool of Southerners angling for the position?? I don't really see anyone better in quality, not in popularity, but experienced and BETTER in quality than President Tinubu.

-------

For the OP, if you are super-dedicated, you will complete your building in no time. Cut off frivolous spending. Consult credible builders who will guide you on the most important things to do first....start buying materials little by little: Blocks, loads of sand, gravel, of course fence your plot, etc.....GOODLUCK and peace.

I bought 4 plots of land under Buhari at ₦1m ($3,300) each, ₦4m ($13,000) in total.

Fast forward to today: the same plot is now ₦3m ($2,000). On paper, in naira, land has “appreciated.” But in dollars, the 4 plots are now $8,000.

In other words, I’ve lost $5,000, a 38.5% loss, not because the land depreciated but because the currency collapsed. That’s what bad policies do; they destroy value silently.

We are in an economy where even land, the safest store of value, can become a casualty of forex and policy mismanagement.
