Greenland only has crude oil potentials with no drilling activities. Currently no licenses are being issued to anyone due to climate concerns and the country imports all its petroleum products. They are certainly NOT willing/going to negotiate or discuss anything relating to oil production with silly Trump.

Aside security, I believe Trump's interest in Greenland is majorly economic . As the artic ice melts more over the years there would be more economic opportunities along that corridor and the Chinese are already testing the waters by putting out their icebreakers and so on there. And the EU can't do anything about it, if China and Russia decide to appropriate whatever... American presence in Greenland would limit the activities of those other guys in the Arctic.
