Sub-Saharan Africa's GDP growth is forecast to rise to 4.3% in 2026, up from an estimated 4.0% in 2025, supported by easing inflation, stronger domestic investment, and improved export performance in several economies.

Business Insider Africa presents the top 10 African countries with the highest GDP growth forecast for 2026. The list is courtesy of the World Bank. The region’s GDP growth is forecast to rise to 4.3% in 2026, up from an estimated 4.0% in 2025.

Africa enters 2026 at a delicate economic crossroads, caught between persistent structural challenges and renewed momentum driven by reform, investment, and regional integration. Economic growth across Sub-Saharan Africa is expected to strengthen in 2026, even as fiscal pressures, security risks, and global trade uncertainties persist.

The region’s GDP growth is forecast to rise to 4.3% in 2026, up from an estimated 4.0% in 2025, supported by easing inflation, stronger domestic investment, and improved export performance in several economies.

The pickup reflects a gradual recovery from recent shocks, including currency pressures, high debt-servicing costs, and reduced official development assistance. In many countries, governments are pursuing fiscal consolidation as limited fiscal space forces tighter spending and greater reliance on private-sector investment.

Momentum is expected to extend into 2027, with growth projected at 4.5%, provided the external environment does not worsen, and security conditions improve in fragile and conflict-affected states.

Higher commodity prices, particularly for gold, precious metals, and coffee, have already boosted revenues in some economies, helping to stabilise public finances.

Africa’s largest economies are also contributing to the recovery. South Africa’s growth strengthened to 1.3% in 2025, supported by improved electricity supply, a strong agricultural harvest, and rising business confidence.

Nigeria’s economy expanded by 4.2%, driven by services, especially finance and ICT, a modest rebound in agriculture, and its emergence as a net exporter of refined petroleum products. While exposure to U.S. markets remains limited for most African economies, risks loom.

Against this backdrop, a group of African countries is forecast to outperform the continental average in 2026, driven by reforms, investment inflows, and sector-specific growth—placing them among the top 10 fastest-growing economies in Africa.

And where is Nigeria's in the reckoning - the so called giant of Africa under the wonder dog economic guru of Lagos?

See the countries with greater projections before this hellhole of a contraption. Thank goodness these statistical indices are not subjected to NBS, NESG, Ministry of Finance manipulations.

Otherwise, agbadorian imps promoting a false sense of Tinubu's economic prowess on twitter will be regaling gullible citizens with voodoo economics incongruent with reality

The economy might boom, but it would probably commence 2027/2028.

Tinubu waa expecting rapid economic growth to commence this year but has been disappointed.

The new tax rates will not hasten rapid economic growth.

Company tax rates should not be anything more than 15%, considering there is still a withholding tax of 10% on dividends.

Low corporate tax has proven to be engines for fast economic growth. Just check out Ireland and Hong Kong.

You lots that know please tell us. Are you growing physically or growing by projections? Don't do the right thing, by injecting the right economic inputs to get desire results. But keep on manipulating the narrative. The truth is always glaring to us all whether we accept or deny it.

Niger and Benin, the two we are electricity supply landlord. They are using what they are borrowing from us wisely to run their economy. How many professor of economics ?How many doctorates holders in Banking and finance?
This means it not amount of resources and number of scholars, but quality of leaders administering them;.

You can only find Nigeria on the poverty list and not this type of list grin . Just look at Benin Republic that is not even up to most state capital in Nigeria. After widening taxing net, 'Subsidy is gone ', loans and Abacha loot retrieval yet Emilokan can't even compete with Benin Republic , PS: don't quote me if you have not been to Benin Republic recently angry

You are even shallower than first thought. This is for the lowest economies in Africa.
Imagine S Sudan with 48.8 growth forecast. These are some of the worst that can only go up.
You're slower than a jelly fish. Always hunting for bad news but always ending up making yourself look shallow. I feel bad for you offspring.
