In 2008, there was a massive protest in UI on school fees coz people can’t afford.

Acceptance fee alone in UI was #5000 in 2007 . Minimum wage was roughly #5500 then and some governors are not even paying that. How then do you think an ordinary average akara seller will afford it when even civil servant will have to borrow?

That’s not school fees oo, acceptance fees alone.

Most of you just come online like Nigeria was like USA back then and suddenly turned to Afghanistan now.

When looking at prices, you factor in income too. Think smart.

If I don’t have money to attend university and I see someone borrow me money free of interest and told me to repay him bit by bit after I get a job. Is that not worthy enough to thank them?

This is how Corruption starts!

Read my comment well I placed emphasis on a child, if you were paying fees for more than one child then you'd definitely be needing a loan, but the fact is fees in public schools were really affordable, there was a time uniben's tuition was 11k for an academic session, so yes, even a woman selling Akara who has been saving can easily pay that!

But she couldn't have attended university through NELFUND. She would have completed 2 years before nelfund became available. So why is she giving all credits to nelfund while ignoring those who paid for her jamb and admission fees up to 200L?
Besides, a whole lot of fresh undergraduates are unable to get nelfund loans as they are not taking new applicants
