Who's in charge of the affairs of the country when the dollar price increased ? The subsidy removed, what value has it added to your life.

What's the meaning of this nonsense again?

How much was dollar to naira at at 2016 and how much is it now

So you expect to still get the same amount of what you bought 10yrs ago ?

Keep dreaming o

If you want to talk about APC government then you ask that how much was Naira to dollar before the coming of PDP and how much was it before they left power

If you had moved it back by just 2 years to 2014, most items would have been about 10 times more expensive

After seeing and experiencing all dis things, some people will still asslick and give support to dis present administration.

Abeg shey dem blind or suffer no dey taya dem?

Let's assume this administration dey pay you for asslicking dem, wat about the well-being of other Nigerians?

Is either Tinubu start to get things right or he should just vacate the presidency come 2027 cos we can continue like this.
Most literate people understand that things are more expensive (rate of inflation) compared to 2016 because of fuel subsidy removal and the floating of the Naira. whereas, no one has a cogent reason for the price increases under previous administrations. Therefore, there are no better alternatives at the moment because this current administration has already taken the bold step to full market liberalisation and none of the opposition parties are proposing better policies

This kg no make sense for analysis. Give us market value.
In 2016 there was subsidy and Naira was been defended but now no such luxury so we have the real market value of produce

There is food inflation..no doubt..

But comparison of this kind no make sense.

Put salary of a worker in 2016 and salary of the same job type and level in 2026

The only sane reply I will expect from anyone is to deny that these prices are right or wrong, if they are right, we should be asking ourselves how did we get here and where are we heading.

Sadly, it will continue to get worse because the criminals in power are violently unrelenting in destroying the country with their greed and the citizens are not ready to fight for their country.

Economics isn't as simple as most of you are putting it. It's a subject that takes thousands of variables to create a specific reality. It requires serious thinking to decipher the forces behind it.

No wonder they said that Adam Smith was a lonely thinker. They said during his lifetime you could walk pass him on the road and greet him but he won't hear you because he's always in a deep thought.

Now, let me give you a real life example of the forces of economics based on my own experience.

In 2018, I once wanted to buy a phone in computer village at Ikeja but I didn't have cash. Buy I had some Bitcoin in my wallet.

The phone was about 200k plus, and I asked the seller whether she'll accept crypto buy she said no.

Dollar to Naira was about N350/$ then.

I traded the crypto by converting $700 worth of Bitcoin to Naira. Then, I paid for the phone.

Today, that same Dollar is now worth over a Million Naira and can, in fact, fetch me two phones of same grade that I bought 8 years ago.

I was thinking about this throughout yesterday, and I keep wondering; are things really more expensive or cheaper today?

Dum bo. The salary has apparently gone up but it can only buy a fraction of what the salary could buy in 2016.

In 2020, I once wanted to buy a phone in computer village at Ikeja but I didn't have cash. Buy I had some Bitcoin in my wallet.

You factored in the dollar compared to the naira that has fallen away against the dollar. But for sure that phone in 2020 cannot cost the same today.

Which salary increments can cover such a downfall huh

Tinubu came and destroyed everything thinking he can start a fresh because he was confused where to start from but don't know that you don't handle an economy of a nation that way...

That grade of phone is not more than 450k today. So, I could buy two phones today and still have change.

My point was that economics is not as simple as most people think

Sick analysis created to fool unintelligent people.
Let's imagine the Gen Z weren't born in the 80's but I'm sure they have parents and uncles who can tell them the prices of food and other items in the 70's and 80's.
This dumb food price comparison should start from the 50's or 60's i want to check something. Since Nigeria got independence in 1960 why use 2016 as a yardstick for food prices comparison? What APC used as campaign tactics in 2013 won't work for ADC in 2027. We live in the era of artificial intelligence, information overload and advanced technology right now.
When musicians were singing of hardship in the 80's bag of Rice was sold for less than #100. $1 was 55 kobo in 1980. Ai is your friend if you want to do thorough comparison. So releasing a useless food price comparison as a campaign tool in this era of Ai is dead on arrival.
