In 2016 when I was a fresher in uni, one fateful night, I was almost killed by beans😭. Make you first wash, parboil and wash again before cooking.

My beans they smell like raw cement and diesel.
Best way to cook it is to perboil the beans and let it cook for 10 minutes, then drain the water and wash with plenty of water before finally cooking.

I washed it like five times after parboiling and the smell no gree leave am

It's the cheap preservative they used in the store. It's supposed to prevent insects that eat the beans while in storage. What you should do is perboil the beans for 20min using a gas cooker or longer if using other means of heating, pour away all the water and add fresh clean water. You can do it twice If you like. All the smell will go.

1. Boil for 5 to 8 minutes.
2. Throw away the brown colored water.
3. Add fresh water, cook and enjoy 😉

I have seen Nigerians preserving beans, stock fish and dry fish with sniper. Nigerians are very wicked n thoughtless when it comes to safety. They only care about profits.

Did you follow the guy drinking kerosene and see how he died? The thing with these things is, you won't see the effect maybe for several years, then when the effects start years later you won't even remember you used to eat kerosene beans!

I noticed chemical smells on potatoes 🥔

Soak in charcoal for 3 hours cook and check if the smell stops. Better to go to bed hungry than to risk your life.

It's likely to be the preservation chemical used.Please wash properlly before boiling and you may wash after parboiling.It could be snipper.

It may not really be kerosine. The beans smells kerosine. The fact is that foreign thing or things have been mixed with beans. It may smell like kerosine and again kerosine might be mixed too. In my comment, I said perhaps. It means I am not sure.
