Good afternoon House. Please can anyone help with good European countries where someone can study and also get job without waiting for so long. I intend to pursue a PHD abroad, but I want to be strategic, while studying I can work. I intend taking my wife and 2 kids along... I already have a masters and bachelor in Mechanical engineering, but I have never practiced with these certificates, I have been into Real estate and Education. My wife has a Bachelors degree too... She will be a dependant. We are looking at Portugal, or Finland , but we want where we can get jobs easily. Canada is too expensive for us, except there's a scholarship. So please help out..... Thank you

I can't really answer that aspect of jobs but when it comes to your travelling, I suggest you leave your kids here, you and your wife can travel, both of you can settle faster and gather some savings then bring your kids in. The more the volume of the family, the more the bills and responsibilities. Abroad is not like Nigeria o. Just saying from a friend's experience who went abroad last year. |

If you intend to study for a PhD, I suggest the UK. You will be allowed to work for 20hr/ weekly while your wife who is a dependant has unlimited working hours. You are sure of getting job in busy cities and that you can do your research about. Just give it a try |

Abroad, the most overrated shii by Nigerians. The most painful thing for the japarians is coming back home to see some people they left behind doing better than them. I see those tears in their eyes when they come home and we hang out. The worst thing to even happen to them is you traveling out to their Japa country for vacation, then hang out with them, take them out and ball them, then go back home. Premium tears. This is coming from personal first hand experience. |

"With good amount of jobs" ![]() When will we ever stop romanticizing these European countries in Nigeria?. You think during these hard times ,de-industrialisation, anti-immmigrant tmes there are countries looking for just anyone from a third world country to come in and get a job easily? ![]() You'll be a victim of an agent or scammers if you think this way. |

A good PhD programme should provide you with a suitable visa and a stipend to support your family. Any PhD programme that requires you to take additional work to support your living is not a good PhD programme and does not deserve your time. If you have a strong background, you can look into the Netherlands, Switzerlands and Scandinavian countries; they have some of the best support for PhDs in the world. In these countries, you will have a researcher residence permit under EU regulations. With this permit, you are a highly skilled worker employed by the University to conduct research. Alongside research, you might also have some teaching obligations depending on the needs of your department or research chair. Lastly, I must warn you that a PhD is not something you do just for JAPA reasons; you need to consider your interests and capabilities so as not to become miserable or chronically depressed during the process. |

mecuries:You know you don't need to say something if you have no clue what is being talked about? Having a dependant that is capable of working full hours is the best thing any international student will ever do. Please don't speak here again cos you obviously have no idea wetin dey go on. |
