Rigging Has Begun – Atiku Blasts Senate Over Electoral Act Amendments Delay by Bobloco(op): 1:56pm On Jan 22
Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has accused the Senate of deliberately frustrating efforts to amend the Electoral Act 2022, warning that failure to reform the law could fatally undermine the credibility of the 2027 general elections.

In a post shared on his verified X page, Atiku described the 2023 general elections as a “major setback,” blaming loopholes in the Electoral Act 2022 for enabling what he called brazen electoral rigging and making it nearly impossible for petitioners to successfully prosecute election cases in court.

According to him, meaningful reform of the legal framework governing elections is the only way to prevent a repeat of the flaws witnessed in 2023.

“It is imperative that if the mistakes of the 2023 election are to be corrected, the legal instrument for the conduct of the 2027 and subsequent future elections needs to be reviewed,” he stated.

Atiku, however, expressed concern that the National Assembly, particularly the Senate, appears unwilling to fast-track the necessary amendments.

“But as things stand, it has become obvious that the Senate is determined to frustrate the passage of amendments to the 2022 Electoral Act,” he said.

He also referenced a recent investigative report by the Foundation for Investigative Journalism (FIJ), describing it as both an indictment of the Senate and a call for urgent legislative responsibility.

“The credibility of the 2027 general elections hinges on the urgency with which the Senate treats this crucial bill,” Atiku warned.

The former presidential candidate stressed that the amended law must be finalised and in force before the 2027 elections, insisting that any delay would amount to a deliberate attempt to compromise the process long before voting begins.

“Anything short of this is a deliberate attempt to rig the election long before the ballots are cast,” he added

grin grin Na today?
Idiots that have devised a delicious rigging system of prisoners voting.
Where has it ever been done?
Even America in all her years as a republic since independence from the UK in 1776 has never allowed prisoners to vote.
No European or Asian country has ever done it.
But this useless APC government wants to introduce it, and subject Nigeria to further ridicule and disgrace.
No wonder, Trump called Nigeria, a disgrace.

I've been shouting it since, some people think I am joking, personally I feel voting has already started for APC alone in INEC offices based on what I have observed, that's why I am not taking opposition seriously, 2027 is like war to Tinubu, to him election has started, Tinubu's governance is lagging behind running 2024 and 2025 budgets in 2026.

Tinubu's governance is 2 years behind time, but his politics is running 2 years ahead of time, that's when politics takes the driver seat while governance takes the back seat.

Re: Rigging Has Begun – Atiku Blasts Senate Over Electoral Act Amendments Delay by virginboy1(m): 2:54pm On Jan 22
The rigging has already started, the real question is how Nigerians intend to stop it. undecided

If Tinubu could win the 2023 election amid weak institutions and compromised oversight, then 2027 will indeed be easier for him if Nigerians resign themselves early. Incumbency is powerful, and the so called opposition frameworks are clearly weak, fragmented, and in many cases compromised.

But elections are not rigged only by those in power; they are also lost when citizens disengage, fail to defend polling units, ignore voter register manipulation, and abandon the process to political actors alone.

Anything short of active citizen involvement, before, during, and after election day, makes pre-election rigging not just possible, but inevitable.

Tinubu and Akpabio will never amend the electoral act....they know what they are doing.

They know that the only way Tinubu can win reelection in 2027 is through massive rigging and election malpractice, that's why Tinubu has been busy buying State Governors through unmerited state allocations they use as they like; its all part of the rigging angry angry
