How did you guy solve the issue of bad network? My internet speed has dropped to less than 1mbps since yesterday night and this is not as a result of using above 1Tb. It came back around 11pm yesterday and I was getting 50mbps and today it went back to below 1mbps. What can be done to resolve this situation??

There is only so much we can do. You can just call them and complain, hoping they do something. I have been doing that. Did it today again.

There might be congestion in your area, try and change the location of the odu or play around with available bands

Every night from 8-10pm network is stuck at about 2mbps. It's crazy how consistent this is. From 11pm till next day 7pm it's 50mbps and above.

That’s the disadvantage of wireless network like 5G/LTE/radio internet, 8PM to 7PM is a peak time where everyone is at home, so they heavily depend on the bandwidth, everyone is browsing at home this time, if u are in a non residential area like markets, u won’t feel it.
This is where fiber internet shines, enough bandwidth to go round

solution is to add an alternate number to your device sim. Airtel has been disconnecting people for a while now. I had to visit their office to add mine yesterday and it worked immediately

AIRTEL in my area still remains the fastest, even on 4G getting 48Mbps and smart tv is on, two laptops connected and 5phones on a busy friday afternoon(peak)

Didn't they initially register it with alternate number? I suppose this will be the problem my guy is facing but he's decided he'd get the new ZTE G5FA next week.

Moved it to the roof - nothing
Moved it outside - nothing
Tried every corner of my house - nothing
Band lock, Cell lock - nothing

And mind you this thing was going at 25mbps when I first got it

Either way this is the 12th day this thing has been going on had to subscribe on other devices for my work since the only thing the WiFi could do was stream.

I've called airtel each day within this 12 day period, kept on being told random deadlines from 24 hours to 72 hours to escalating to network engineer to escalating to HQ.

Within those 12 days no one from Airtel could tell me the reason until I managed to wrangle it out of one day before yesterday that apparently there's a packet loss in my area (Don't know how true that is or maybe the dude was just lying).

Currently I even think that they've marked my number because I called today twice, I escalated to supervisor twice then was kept on hold for upwards of 40minutes twice until the call cut itself. Had to use a separate number (Maybe I'm just paranoid tho)

Either way, I don't think I'll resubscribe for this. if when I pay for a 30 days subscription I'll only be able to use half before whatever this is occurs again (Although I was told that I'd be compensated when fixed but who knows). I've also reported to ncc (Don't know if that'll do anything after all na Naija we dey) and will post my experience on X cause I see other people experiencing the same thing

Unfortunately there's no MTN FibreX in my area so I'll just switch back to my previous ISP which is wifi.com. It's kinda just as slow but at least I get decent speeds towards the night and early morning.

Furthermore, I think any upgrade to esim should be free and carry my current subscription from my physical sim. I am just scared to pay for another subscription on the esim and experience this same issue again.

Wat a sad experience... Are U using a physical Sim or eSim , may be U should try it in another location...I mean the next str or very far to your house

Sorry man. What I usually do is to contact them via twitter, they'll ask for router phone number, say it's not unique to you but a general network issue with ur area.

They'll ask u to fill out some details, then in about 48hrs u should be on. This has always worked for me.

I think you should be able to add mtn as your alternative number... because after 8days of using my odu .. Airtel cc called me on my MTN line , and the cc did not tell me to change my alternative number... So I think MTN is fine as alternative number

Leave the 5G for now. If you have terrible speed on 4G, it most likely won't be much better on 5G. Airtel has only one 5G band and one frequency available i.e. N78 and 627264.

From your screenshot, I can't figure out the band you're connected to but I can see two other band 3 cells available with cell (PCI) 80 being the better of the two.

Check the system status or network info to see the band you're currently connected to.

Alternatively, lock only the 5G to cell 173 and turn off 4G band lock. Let the device select the best 4G aggregation to combine with 5G to give best results. This is what I did recently since Airtel has been moving mad lately. See screenshots.

I clicked obtain everything: Frequency band, frequency point and it brought out the same information on the screenshot.
But something happened when I clicked "Physical Cell ID" it brought out 172, I changed it to 173 myself cos that's what I have on the screenshot.

I didn't lock it to either 4G/5G though, it's on auto and it works just fine, I'm getting stable 40Mbps speed this time of the night(9PM) and I'm streaming so well without interruption.

Moving it to another street? I don't know if the cable is long enough for that

Yeah I've contacted them on Twitter too back to back but nothing. They once even left me on read for days. Overall Airtel do me strong thing

, you need to convert your sim to physical sim , so you can insert it in the mifi

This can be very frustrating... Have you tried using another Airtel sim or check from anybody else using Airtel around your neighbourhood and confirm if they are having same problem
