Hello,
I am planning to apply to graduate trainee position at a bank this year and I am an Accounting graduate with 2:1. I have been wondering if I can be able to choose my role and the department I wish to work in. I wish to work in an accounting or finance role. My other option is to work in a construction company but the pay is not a good compared to a bank. I am also writing my ican exams hopefully will be finished this year.

I will appreciate any advice. Thanks

Are you a guy or a lady, also what is your age range. apply for the one you deem fit as you chose. It's too early for you to be saying which department or not, banks don't work like that, you will be seconded to anywhere they choose. Meanwhile, your studying accounting is of no use yet until you either get chartered or you are working in that role, my suggestion to you also reach out to someone is an experienced chartered accountant to be your mentor, register for ICAN diets, if you eventually get into the bank go for CIBN too. And try your best not to stay in any company beyond 2 to 3 years before you try another it will increase your career value and exposure. Also join high net worth career networks digitally or even physically, invest in books for personal development
