BREAKING: Ekiti Tightens Security as Amotekun Arrests 16 Suspected Bandits

The Ekiti State Security Network Agency, Amotekun Corps, has arrested 16 suspected bandits said to have migrated from neighbouring Kwara State into Ekiti.

The suspects were apprehended on Wednesday by operatives of the Amotekun Corps in Oye Local Government Area.

Confirming the arrest in a statement made available to journalists, the Director of Information of the Corps, Mr. Adeleye, said the suspects were sighted in large numbers with cattle around Gede Farm Settlement in Isan-Ekiti, a development that triggered panic among residents.

According to the statement, Amotekun operatives swiftly mobilised reinforcements from nearby outposts and moved to the area, where the suspects were successfully arrested.

Preliminary interrogation revealed that the suspects allegedly fled Kwara State following intensified anti-banditry operations by security agencies in the state.

The suspects reportedly confessed to involvement in cattle rustling activities, particularly targeting residents of local communities in Kwara.

Mr. Adeleye disclosed that the suspects have been handed over to the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) of the Ekiti State Police Command in Ado-Ekiti for further investigation and necessary action.

He added that the Amotekun Corps remains committed to safeguarding lives and property across Ekiti State and warned criminal elements against seeking refuge in the state.
