Do I Need To Drain My Power Bank Battery? by Ketamine9000mg(op): 3:24pm On Jan 24
I just bought Oraimo power bank box 400(40, 000 mAh). I was advised by the seller to use the power bank until it is 0% before my first charge to 100%. Please, is this necessary?

I'll give you very short answers:
1) You don't NEED to.
2) Ideally, drain lithium batteries to around 10% before charging.
3) But if you drain your power bank to 0% NOW, nothing bad will happen (except you make it a habit).
4) Constantly draining it to 0% will reduce the capacity faster.

Yes
If like drain if you like no drain
There's no special thing it will do to your power bank

Just the same stereotypes of charging new phone with Nepa light instead of generator

It is strongly advised you fully charge a new product before first use.

Full discharge is only needed occasionally to recalibrate the battery meter if the percentage indicator becomes inaccurate (this is common in used products not new). New products are already factory calibrated.

Charge it fully before your first usage.

No need to drain it.
Re: Do I Need To Drain My Power Bank Battery? by Beeron: 4:24pm On Jan 24
No point for that.

That seller was talking out of ignorance from what he has heard other sellers say.

It's litium iron battery, it can charge and discharge for hundreds of cycles. If that first discharge was necessary, it will be written clearly for you to see on the product.

That said: the best practice is not to drain completely, when it's down to 30% you put it off and when you re-charge and it gets to 80% or 90%, unplug from power.

Now why?

Lithium iron battery is very durable but the only thing that kills the longevity of lithium iron battery is HEAT so when you charge up to 100% every time, you causing heat and heat kills the cells of the battery, that's why the battery don't last long after some time.

Please follow the instructions: drain the device completely to 0% before charging it to calibrate. Subsequently, charge it to 100%. After this initial process, you may charge it when the battery level is between 30% and 80%.

When i got mine, I was unlucky with power as I was charging it with generator for several months. Then it takes more than two days for it to be fully charged not until last week I got a 120v charger that could fully charge it within 2hrs. That power Bank is strong I but nothing last forever

You don't need to....Oraimo power banks use intelligent batteries

Most of today's batteries uses lithium-ion or lithium-polymer batteries, which work differently from old battery technology.

I purchased an Itel power bank about seven months ago. I have not used that particular powerbank like others that I carry around more frequently. Recently I noticed that the power bank had swollen, apparently from the battery. Is Itel that bad as a product?
Re: Do I Need To Drain My Power Bank Battery? by determination26(m): 7:13pm On Jan 24
So many people with different opinions. OP, I don't know about other brands, but when you buy an Oraimo power bank, it's advised to drain the battery to 0 percent before giving it a full charge as this helps calibrate the charge indicator to display the correct charge percentage. I got a 20,000mah power bank recently, followed these instructions, and the power bank has been working excellently well ever since.
Re: Do I Need To Drain My Power Bank Battery? by Iamfragile: 7:17pm On Jan 24
Please don't try it. I regret trying it. I did it with my new poolee 30,000mah and it's been malfunctioning since then. I will never believe that nonsense again
