OGUN STATE IS MOVING AND THE SIGNALS ARE TOO LOUD TO IGNORE

The Prince Dapo Abiodun–led administration continues to earn commendation for its bold, visionary leadership in positioning Ogun State as a rising economic and infrastructural powerhouse. From the commissioning of strategic road networks across Abeokuta, Sagamu and beyond, to the historic approval by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for commercial oil drilling in Ogun Waterside and the revival of the Olokola Deep Seaport, the administration has demonstrated purposeful governance anchored on development, opportunity and people-centred progress. These milestones mark a turning point in Ogun’s economic narrative, opening new frontiers for investment, job creation and regional integration. Ìgbéga ìpínlè Ògùn… Àjùse ni.

Amid these transformative strides, Ogun’s political and social space also witnessed moments of honour and reflection as Olori Adebisi Olaotan marked her golden jubilee at 50, earning warm tributes from Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola (Yayi), CON, his wife Chief (Mrs.) Temitope Adeola, and the management of New Ogun Arise. Celebrated as a woman of strength, grace and quiet impact, Olori Olaotan’s life was described as one of purpose, sacrifice and service, with prayers offered for continued peace, joy and divine favour as she steps into a new chapter.

At the same time, Ogun’s political landscape is clearly evolving. Otunba Segun Showunmi’s emergence as a serious 2027 governorship contender and the steady rise of The Alternative have introduced a new dynamic into the state’s politics. With a message rooted in process, principle and civic engagement, Showunmi has positioned himself as a disruptor whose appeal cuts across party lines, particularly among youth and reform-minded voters. His resistance to imposed processes and call for a new political culture signal a growing demand for credibility and inclusion, forcing both APC and PDP to reassess old assumptions.

This momentum is further reflected in Ogun East, where politics is visibly heating up. In a strategic move, the Rev. Olusola Salau Support Group for Prince Dapo Abiodun for Senate and the Confirmed Mandate Asiwaju ’27 held a high-level engagement with Hon. Barrister Femi Ogunbanwo, the respected House of Representatives member for Odogbolu/Ijebu Ode/Ijebu North East Federal Constituency. The meeting underscored unity, grassroots strategy and renewed commitment to progressive governance aligned with President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda.

Ogun state is moving to where?

The most annoying thing about Ogun state is the fact that we have a lot of intellectuals and great men in Ogun state. The owner of Black rock is from Ogun state, President Obasanjo, Vice president Yemi Osinbanjo. Last year UNILAG graduated two students with a 5.00 CGPA. Both from Ogun state.
