There's this notion in vogue right now.
It's part of what we teach in some of our motivation sessions. I teach it too.
How to get richer, how to get rich, how to become better, etc, etc.
One of the key suggestions on that list is:
"Have rich friends. Have friends who are richer than you."
Get closer to the rich folks so that you can gain more opportunities to grow radially.
It's technically true that having a cluster of rich friends around you helps a lot in many ways.
It's also necessary to know that these rich folks know exactly why you wanna be friends with them. So is it all about what's in the bag or is there something deeper that connects us?
If you're the richest or the best person in your circle, it's not a circle it's a cage.
And all that. However, a wise man knows that real friends are valuable, very valuable and can be golden in trying times.
Do you have those friends who are around from the days of your little start up and they're still around now, even when things have scaled up and improved significantly?
And, you bare your mind completely to them without the fear of them scowling at you and telling you, "you're such an emo" and all that?

If you do, congrats, you have real social wealth.

I'm not at all saying that becoming friends with rich guys is not valuable at all, it is indeed great to be a trustworthy friend of the rich or richer folks in the society but don't sacrifice your true friends or real friends on the altar of having rich friends or richer friends.
Real friends are there for the things you can't talk about with your rich friends.
It is true wealth to be blessed with real friends.

I want to invite you to be a friend to the realest friend you can ever have.
Accept Jesus today, and experience what real and true friendship really is.
