Not the same snake. This one is a puff adder and the one posted by the OP is a night adder. The puff adder is serious business compared to the night adder. You can survive a night adder’s bite without an antivenin. You will certainly die if you don’t treat a puff adder‘s bite with an antivenin.

You’re right. Back in 2020 someone was bitten by a juvenile night adder on our construction site but nothing happened to him. The bite site was bruised and reddish though.

So, my dogs forcefully went outside the gate today in the afternoon. It's not really the usual time to go out to pee and stuff, so I was a bit angry and wanted them to come back.

They wasted a bit of time running around the bush and I started chasing them a little before they knew I was serious and they wouldn't like me to graduate to using some well orchestrated spanks first...

Finally they got in the living room (not using the cage for now cos they disturb/bark at the neighbors). Then just as I was about to close the door and turn back I found this shocker chilling like a confused fish out of water.

Thankfully it wasn't too comfortable to slither on tiles so it was very easy to target the head first.

It must have hidden itself around one of the dog's body—maybe the more hairy one. Cos I just move in 2 months ago, there could be no other way for such except for small cockroaches and maybe wall geckos I should try to deal with it.

Well said, I once worked in farm that I was even staying there for 5months. And inside the farm were bushes. Thru out my stay there, I never for once see a snake, why bcus we have 5 cats. A mother cat and 4 of her children. Before I even left there, it has given birth to another set of 4 that's now running around also. Those cats chase anything snake and lizards away like no tmrw

The farm is inside a village that's surrounded with bushes and also has Bush inside it.
Till I left I never saw a snake at all. The were 5 cats inside the farm, 4 kittens and their mother. Those cats makes sure no snake sees the light of the day. The people I met there said they used to be snakes, but since they brought those cats, they have finished hunting them.
In my presence there, I used to see those cats tearing lizards to pieces. Abeg no let them hear am, cats no dey use eye see snake, e go rush am sharp sharp

That you don't see snakes there don't mean the cats hunted all the snakes down or out. Snakes naturally would avoid confrontation or contact with animals they can't hunt.

Being in same territory hunting for food or whatever with a cat is a threat to them. Not because cats hunt them down but because they prefer not to cross paths with cats. So naturally they will avoid them.


Cats can see snakes crawling about and if they see them and decide they aren't threats to them they would ignore and be nonchalant about them.

When cats would attack and kill a snake is when it sees it as a direct threat to them.


Snakes naturally avoid them or any other natural predator they come across and so would avoid the area.


That's what I said not that cats can't kill snakes!
