Hello everyone,

I need to get a new freezer today or tomorrow. I need help choosing a very good and durable chest freezer that freezes on time, high energy savings (I'm on Band A) and doesn't defrost on time. I have been very unlucky with refrigerators, I'm confused with so many brands and models out there. 2 technicians I met said I should get a tokunbo and I'm like nah...not again.

Budget is 300k to 400k.

Dear nairalanders what is the best brand to get? New or tokunbo. I will appreciate your help, pls keep the comments pouring in.

For brand new - Hisense . Freezes to the core and last. Their warranty works.

For Tokunbo - Haundekk, Privileg. They are German freezers. My brother uses Haundekk, NEPA will take light for three day and the freezer will still be blocked and releasing smoke when you open it. We dey hail that freezer abeg, five years now he has been using it. I use Privilege but Haundekk is better.

If you are in Lagos, go to Lawanson market. Carry a fridge technician with you.

Bonus - For brand new don't ever buy Scanfrost, the most useless of them all. Bought it brand new and it didn't last up to two years.

Where can I get original Hisense in Lagos? So many stores are offering different prices.
What model do you suggest?

The one I bought it's still serving more. Try and buy from their accredited dealers, a lot of fake in the market.

Buy from Fauni/LG , they are the distributors of Hisense and you have warranty with them.
For the model, the one my boo uses is the small sized freezer. I don't know the name of the exact model.

There is Fauni/LG store in Bode Thomas, surulere and Allen Avenue, Ikeja. There are others in different local government, it depends on where you stay.

Go to Ilupeju I think they have their main office around there. I have forgotten the exact address.

Update for those in similar situations:

I almost patronised an online store I found on Jiji who has a warehouse at Alaba and another one close to where I stay. I went there, they showed me different latest Hisense freezers. The Hisense freezers don't have inner light. The sales representative tried to convince me that latest Hisense freezers no longer feature inner light. They removed the light so as to save cost and energy consumption according to Sales Reps. I wasn't comfortable with that, so I went to FOUANI store at Allen in Ikeja. FOUANI is the major distributor of Hisense and LG. When I got there, I found the exact models and they all have inner lights. I had no choice but to buy from there and I have been enjoying the freezer for about a month now.

Guys be careful out there. There are many fake appliances and you will hardly spot the difference. Buy from authorised dealers only.

Why did I buy Hisense? Because they are cheaper, freeze fast and are as good as others.
