Court orders 48 persons to report to SSS over fraud charges

A Federal High Court in Lagos has ordered 48 persons to report to the State Security Service (SSS) office in Shangisha, Lagos.

This order comes after allegations of fraud and the illegal receipt of money.

The court gave the order on January 12, 2026, as part of an investigation into a case involving the Federal Republic of Nigeria against Yakubu Idris and 47 others.

The listed individuals have exactly 60 days from the date of the public notice to make themselves available to the authorities.


The purpose of this visit is for them to clear their names regarding the fraud allegations. The court warned that this is a formal legal requirement under Suit No: FHC/L/MISC/649/2025.

The people named in the document with their last known locations from various states, including Abuja, Lagos, Ogun, Ondo, Oyo, Nasarawa, Kano, Imo, Delta and Rivers State.

They range in age from 24 to 76 years old. Some of the names mentioned include Yakubu Idris, Ajibade Lukman Olawale and Owolabi Adesina Samuel.

They are hereby directed to make themselves available to the State Security Service (SSS), Lagos Command, within 60days of this publication.

Did I read that correctly? Ages 24 to 76? This is a 'multi-generational' fraud syndicate! From Gen Z to Great-Grandpa. It just shows that in Nigeria, 'getting the bag' knows no age limit. If a 76-year-old is being asked to report to Shangisha, then we have a long way to go.

I am curious to know, since some of these persons are outside Lagos, who will fund the trip for their appearance? (Transport, feeding hotel accommodation and other necessary logistics)

Some of the might have received bank transfer for legit services rendered to a fraudster.

They're only required to go clear their names.

They only need transport to report to the SSS office why others will be taking care of,such as feedings and accommodation is free with well secured rooms all alone by them
At the end of the investigations if innocent ,try will be set free and will now sort for tfee by contacting relatives but if otherwise they will land in court..

I would like to know, as some candidates are based outside Lagos, who will be responsible for covering their travel and related expenses such as transport, meals, accommodation, and other logistics?

Unless there is more to their fraud cases, they should be visiting the EFCC, not the DSS.
