Federal Government Dismisses Reports on Removal of Sunday Igboho from Wanted List

The Federal Government has dismissed circulating reports claiming that Yoruba nation agitator, Chief Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, has been removed from the government’s wanted list, insisting that he remains a wanted person.

In a firm reaction on Monday, federal authorities described the reports as false, misleading, and without any official backing, urging the public to disregard such claims. According to the government, no decision has been taken to delist Igboho, who is wanted over alleged offences bordering on threats to national security.

A senior government source clarified that there has been no formal review, pardon, or withdrawal of charges against the self-styled activist, stressing that any information suggesting otherwise did not emanate from any recognized government agency.

“The status of Sunday Igboho has not changed. He is still wanted by the Nigerian government,” the source said, adding that security agencies remain guided by existing court orders and ongoing investigations.

The government further warned against the spread of unverified information, noting that such reports could create unnecessary tension and mislead the public. It emphasized that only official statements from authorized institutions should be relied upon regarding sensitive national security matters.

Sunday Igboho has been on the government’s radar since 2021 following his agitation for the secession of the South-West from Nigeria, which led to a manhunt and his eventual arrest in the Benin Republic.

As of the time of filing this report, no official communication has been issued indicating any change to his legal or security status.

The same guy initially focused excessively on the Fulani herders issue, but later unexpectedly switched to advocating for the Yoruba Nation.
